Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta believes the military should receive a pay cut in order to respond to the budget cuts facing the Government — a position that might strengthen the Republican push to reverse President Obama’s executive order raising the salary of Vice President Joe Biden and other all other federal officials.Wow who would have thought that a Federal worker works 3 times harder than a soldier, hell no wonder Obama is cutting the soldiers' pay while increasing the pay of Federal workers. Soldiers must be slackers.
“Panetta after consulting with President Obama will recommend to Congress that military salaries be cut and limited to a one percent increase in 2014,” CNN reports, explaining that the Obama Administration is “effectively decreasing troop salaries next year ".
The debate about sequestration did not stop Obama from ending a pay freeze for other government officials, effectively authorizing a pay raise that costs $11 billion provded to all Federal workers except military members. The median salary for enlisted members of the armed forces, as determined by the salary in the center of the pay scale chart, is $33,141.00. The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported the median salary of a Federal worker is $93,542.00.
