Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta believes the military should receive a pay cut in order to respond to the budget cuts facing the Government — a position that might strengthen the Republican push to reverse President Obama’s executive order raising the salary of Vice President Joe Biden and other all other federal officials.

“Panetta after consulting with President Obama will recommend to Congress that military salaries be cut and limited to a one percent increase in 2014,” CNN reports, explaining that the Obama Administration is “effectively decreasing troop salaries next year ".

The debate about sequestration did not stop Obama from ending a pay freeze for other government officials, effectively authorizing a pay raise that costs $11 billion provded to all Federal workers except military members. The median salary for enlisted members of the armed forces, as determined by the salary in the center of the pay scale chart, is $33,141.00. The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported the median salary of a Federal worker is $93,542.00.
Wow who would have thought that a Federal worker works 3 times harder than a soldier, hell no wonder Obama is cutting the soldiers' pay while increasing the pay of Federal workers. Soldiers must be slackers.

Like lightening out the sky is dawned on my why Obama wants to cut Soldiers' pay while increasing other Federal workers' pay...soldiers don't belong to a union and the majority didn't vote for him. Obama feels the sacrificies a Federal worker makes compared to that of a soldier warrants the Federal worker making 300 percent more than a soldier. Not only that, he feels the soldiers are over paid while other Federal workers need more money.

Where is the damn outrage by Americans over this? If anybody in the Federal system needs to make the most money it should be our soldiers because no other Americans come close to make the sacrificies they do. Shame on Obama

Didn't Dildo have a Son in the Military, and with his blind support of Obama, I wonder how he's going to tell his son that he agrees with Obama and that his Son deserves a pay cut and that Federal Workers are worth more than our Military members.

Obama agrues that Federal workers don't have a say to where they are sent or where they live, they don't always come home to their families at night, it could be months or years before they see their families. Federal workers don't have weekends off and there is no such thing as over time if they work more than 7 1/2 hours a day. Plus Federal workers can't just say I don't want to do this any more and walk away from their jobs, it's a criminal offense for a Federal worker to refuse to show up for work or do what they're told, they're locked up if they refuse. Plus Federal workers are the only Americans who can be ordered into a situation where the likely hood of being killed is almost a given. All these reasons justify why Federal workers should receive salaries that are 300% more than soldiers and why Federal workers deserve another pay increase while soldiers need to take pay cuts. Obama has this one right,oh one more little detail to take into consideration, Federal workers voted for Obama while most soldiers didn't. Obama is just teaching them a lesson.

A private going into the army gets about $1500 a month. Thinking about it, that's a pretty good deal. Since they virtually have no living expenses when they live on post, they can pretty pocket most of the money since they don't have to pay;

1. Housing and Insurance
2. Food
3. Medical and Dental
4. Car, gas, and insurance

and so on

Now ask yourself this question, how many people who start working right out of high school will be able to save $1000 a month?

Secondly the median salary of a federal worker is not 93K, that's just bullshit. I don't even need to look it up to know it's not true, so let's keep it real....

CEOs get paid some 300-400 times more than the average worker, or what ever it is. Did the CEOs who ran the banks deserve millions in golden parachutes when their companies took billions in bailouts from the taxpayers?

And you have the nerve to complain about some career bureaucrat who is trying to grind out a living. So you don't think they get up early in the morning, go on long commutes in the dark, in the freezing cold. Then they have to pick up their kids, cook dinner, wash clothes, and so on. What world are you living on??????????????????????????????

Now, lets consider that, the actual pay for an E1 with less than 2 years is $1467 before taxes.

Figuring an average of 30% taxes, state, fed, other, that's a NET of $1025 (rounded) per MONTH.

The average work week is 40 hours for Civilians, so, 180 hours per month (average 4.24 weeks/month), which means that the E1< 2 years makes about $5.70/hr take home.

Now, they do have expenses - Car Insurance, Internet Service, Cell Phone, Gaming, Eating Out, Gas for their car/truck, personal clothing, etc... Since they are Military they don't quality for the free cell phone, free internet, or much else free - but people that take home about $5.70/hr can get those things free or at a reduced monthly cost.

You don't know much about the Military Elk, at least not about how they live.

In 2008 the average federal worker had a Salary of $68,000/year ($5,666/month) and another $41,000 in benefits on top of their salary (or another $3420/month).

Hell, the Military members don't even make as much a month as the Federal Workers do in just benefits alone.

Federal Workers are paid and average of $10,000 per year more (not including benefits) than their private sector counterparts. That means that tax payers are screwed by $10,000 (average) per year for every federal employee (not counting military members), just because the government doesn't have to play fair, doesn't have to compete, doesn't promote based on value/merit.

How's that for a real comparison?

CEO's aren't paid with tax payers' money but Federal workers and soldiers are. Why should the average Federal worker received 300% more than the average soldier? It should be the other way around.

If his son thinks like his dad, he's one soldier that deserves his pay to be cut. :D
I wonder if Dildo will have anything to say about Obama sending people in harms way and then abandoning them, even after being asked for help, just ignoring them and letting them be killed?

"According to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, as reported at The Weekly Standard, President Obama was completely aloof from the events in Libya on September 11. He neither asked nor ordered anything. He did not respond to information sent to the White House. He was not involved at all, during the seven-plus-hour attack that resulted in the deaths of four American government employees, including an ambassador."

Obama LET THEM DIE, their deaths are directly on his hands (if not by his hands).

CEO's receive corporate welfare and taxpayer bailouts.

I won't even bother going over the number of tax breaks and loopholes those people receive.

What's that have to do with the Obama Administration giving Federal workers raises while cutting pay for our soldiers?

You're showing just how out of touch you are. Find a new friend, someone that makes that amount, then look at their paycheck, get back to us when you've come out of your cave.

How do you define a pay cut?

A cut in gross salary or a lower pay raise?

The proposal is to lower the raises...correct?

And they still will match inflation...correct?

I know it's kind of hard on you, but read it a few times and then ask your wife (partner?) for some help on what she thinks Panetta menas when he talks cutting military salaries.

According to Clinton, his faked/fraudulent "balanced budget", was done/based on all of those - lower increases were counted as CUTS, proposed increases that never came to vote were counted as CUTS, expected income that was never realized was counted as income, creating new programs and then cutting them by 10% was counted as a Cut (before they were even put in place).

OK so now we have it straight.

Salaries are not getting cut, the gross pay will stay the same. The pay raises will be smaller and will match inflation.

A decrease in a pay increase is not what I consider a pay cut. Now if they were to cut the gross salary, then that's an issue. For instance if a guy in 2013 was getting paid $20,000 and after the adjustments in 2014 the pay was $18,000 or something, then you have a point.

Obama slap in the face to our troops have plenty of Americans angry. A few Senators are calling for increases to military pay levels to that of other federal workers which mean an average of 55% pay increases for enlisted troops. Since spending is out of control and Obama is only increasing that spending I can't think of better way to spend the money than doubling the pay to the hardest working citizens in America! I fully support bringing their pay up to the level of other Federal workers...in fact they should be making more!
