It figures that johnforbes only appreciates a Rolex for its superficial aspects; its appearance and its perceived monetary worth, which to johnforbes is the only meaningful value anything has. If it's not ostentatious, he won't be seen wearing it, and if he can't get money for it, it has no real value to him.
johnny derives all sense of intrinsic value from what he believes others think about what he values. He doesn't have an opinion of something unless someone else also had that opinion first. Nothing has intrinsic value until someone tells him it does.
To johnny, everything is about appearances over substance. Everything is about what you "want" and "wish" was true, and all he wants or wishes for is the approval of others. The only reality he recognizes is defined by what his handlers tell him is real, even though he has evidence right before his eyes that it is a lie.
Grinning approval from shallow, ignorant assholes-- now that's what johnforbes considers to be "sublime" living.
Who gives a fuck that the Rolex watch is a masterpiece of precision machining and design as long as he can dress it up in whorish lipstick and six-inch heels to make it appeal to his friends who couldn't give a fuck that the thing tells time accurately?
Thus, johnforbes feigns valuing individuality while actually supporting authoritarians. He is a Republican. He is a Trump supporter with all the integrity of other Trump supporters like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Kevin McCarthy, and Lindsey Graham.
Remember when they called Trump things like "Con artist Trump"(Rubio) "pathological liar" and "narcissist" Trump(Cruz) and "Donald Trump is a jackass"(Graham). johnforbes takes pleasure in knowing that Trump castrated all of them and turned them into the same sort of grovelling, unprincipled toadies that johnforbes is.
