I was touched at johnforbes' tearful gratitude for my preventing him from inadvertently outing himself by a slip up over his tacky jewelry choices.

He tries very hard to 'butch' it up with the single 2-carat diamond ear stud and the gaudy oversized gold necklace he wears with his Speedos at Fire Island.

But why he now wants a garish green Rolex that is only marginally less gay that the diamond-encrusted Rolex of his dreams is beginning to make me think there is no stopping him from accidentally revealing to the world his true "FABULOUS!" nature.

Let's edit out of our minds all of Clownswisher's gay fantasy material, and we are sill left with the pragmatic question:

Is that shade of green the proper one?

Even though I cannot, as a normal person, share in Clown's fairy foppery, he may actually have a point in terms of that green.

"Let's edit out of our minds all of His Lordship's gay warnings material, and we are sill left with the pragmatic question:
Is that shade of green the proper one?"-johnfoibles

Yes, johnny, it is the perfectly proper shade of green....to let everyone around you know once and for all that you are gay.

Show it to the other queens down at the drag club and you'll find out just how fabulous it is.

No doubt you wear a peach ascot when out and about as well.

"Clown has a hand in and cannot dial down his foolish foppery."-johnflubs

johnny, YOU are the one who started this thread about your own foolish foppery.

And you continue to parade your incredibly bad taste by continuing to post on it with more gay options for truly bad jewelry.

Dial it down already. You're just about to burst into flames.

I did start this thread.

And, when the marvelous legacy of this fine forum is archived for historical purposes, this watch thread will glow much like an electroluminescent dial.

Watch threads of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime.

And departing leave behind us footprints on the sands of cyber-time.

"johnny, YOU are the one who started this thread about your own foolish foppery."-me

"I did start this thread."-johnforbes

See how easy that was to admit the you are the one who can't dial down the foolish foppery? Self-awareness is the critical first step in dealing with your childish problems.

This is truly a red-letter day on the long road to your growth out of a fundamentally shallow nature. And no, that does not mean you should buy an ugly red Rolex instead.

(By the way, "garishly tacky" is not synonymous with "sublime" johnny. You really should avail yourself of the OED occasionally.)

Whew, the average set of windshield wipers hasn't cleared more things up than me on this forum.

Why yes, I did start this thread.

johnny, no one is interested in Liberace's watches. Well, no one who's straight anyway.

And I'll warn you right now--- no garish diamond-encrusted watch you personally covet is ever going to come close to matching the flare of your hero's gaudy acquisitions.

When are you going to offer us your favorite absurd 'brass knuckles' Superbowl/pinky ring collection for the manly gad about town?
By Clownkicker
#130607
You do realize there is no law that says a wedding ring must be worn on the left hand 'ring' finger, right, you stupid little man.

You have another hand, dummy. Or you could have it sized to accommodate your phony knuckle issue. Or you could wear it on a chain around your neck.

Honestly, the stupid shit you tell your wife just so you can pose as being unmarried when down at the drag clubs...
By johnforbes
#130611
I can get the wedding ring on over that knuckle, but people who grow up around ranch machinery are always advised not to wear jewelry of any kind.

My wrist watch was kept in my shirt pocket on a tractor, but then I have a Fauci-like concern for safety but without his ego.
By Clownkicker
#130613
johnny, it's quite simple. I didn't wear my ring on my hand when working with machinery. I wore it on a chain while at work and put it on when I left.

You could too since you aren't working around farm machinery any longer. But you just don't want to harm your chances of some guy buying you a Shirley Temple when you're at the local drag club.

Maybe it would interest you to know that some gays see a wedding ring as a special challenge to overcome when they see you are clearly a closet case in denial. Regardless, you should wear it out of respect for your wife, unless of course she doesn't wear hers either.

And in that case, you should wonder which lesbian bar she is patronizing when you're obliviously up at the cabin rotting your outdoor boots in a plastic bag.

That's our johnny...he's always got an excuse for why he's disrespecting his wife.

"but....but... she just won't shut up! It's not my fault. I HAD to insult her because I don't like necklaces. And how can anyone expect me to wear a ring on my right hand? I am incapable of living outside of conventional mob behaviors."-johnfool

That's what denial of one's true sexuality results in, johnny. Everyone just has to live with your repressive foolishness.

See, johnny? You are so deep in denial that you are singing me thinly disguised love songs.

You just can't help it. You are drawn to men and your wife pays the price of your denial.

You can tell whenever johnforbes realizes he stuck his foot in his mouth again.

He avoids the point and starts crapping out diversionary non sequiturs hoping no one will notice how stupid he looks.

This time he thinks his effeminately superior choice of skin creams is successfully concealing his adolescent embarrassment.

It isn't, johnny.

#130630
I was congratulating Clownswisher for having the same smooth, youthful skin as Willie Nelson.

Instead, Clown has gone off on a diversion claiming Willie is gay.

The only two self-admitted light-in-the-loafers folks on this forum are Clown and Elkin.

Clown, please.

There is no such thing as a gay timepiece.

Clown has spent so much time sauntering around sissy spas that he believes others are enmeshed in his egregious excesses.

#130645
Mary, please.

Of course there is such a thing as a gay timepiece.

All one need do is look at your first post to see one.

No straight man wears such a ridiculous and tacky piece of jewelry.

As noted above, I myself am not a fan of jewel-encrusted timepieces, but have always been a Rolex fan for two reasons:

1) The appearance of some of them, like the Submariner and GMT Master

2) The fact that they seem to not merely retain value, but for some models actually provide a ROI
By Clownkicker

It figures that johnforbes only appreciates a Rolex for its superficial aspects; its appearance and its perceived monetary worth, which to johnforbes is the only meaningful value anything has. If it's not ostentatious, he won't be seen wearing it, and if he can't get money for it, it has no real value to him.

johnny derives all sense of intrinsic value from what he believes others think about what he values. He doesn't have an opinion of something unless someone else also had that opinion first. Nothing has intrinsic value until someone tells him it does.

To johnny, everything is about appearances over substance. Everything is about what you "want" and "wish" was true, and all he wants or wishes for is the approval of others. The only reality he recognizes is defined by what his handlers tell him is real, even though he has evidence right before his eyes that it is a lie.

Grinning approval from shallow, ignorant assholes-- now that's what johnforbes considers to be "sublime" living.
Who gives a fuck that the Rolex watch is a masterpiece of precision machining and design as long as he can dress it up in whorish lipstick and six-inch heels to make it appeal to his friends who couldn't give a fuck that the thing tells time accurately?

Thus, johnforbes feigns valuing individuality while actually supporting authoritarians. He is a Republican. He is a Trump supporter with all the integrity of other Trump supporters like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Kevin McCarthy, and Lindsey Graham.

Remember when they called Trump things like "Con artist Trump"(Rubio) "pathological liar" and "narcissist" Trump(Cruz) and "Donald Trump is a jackass"(Graham). johnforbes takes pleasure in knowing that Trump castrated all of them and turned them into the same sort of grovelling, unprincipled toadies that johnforbes is.

As usual, Clown is wrong.

I've noted numerous times that cars and phones and PCs have the time, and that consequently I seldom even wear a watch these days.

Some vintage Rolex models do seem almost investments given their appreciation.

Now I'm wondering if I still have the old issued watch handed out in SE Asia, which mighta been Westclox or Benrus.
By Clownkicker
#130673
As usual, johnforbes is lying. He told us in so many words the two reasons he values a Rolex:

"As noted above, I myself am not a fan of jewel-encrusted timepieces, but have always been a Rolex fan for two reasons:
1) The appearance of some of them, like the Submariner and GMT Master
2) The fact that they seem to not merely retain value, but for some models actually provide a ROI"-johnforbes

Because I took a liar at his word, he wants to claim I am wrong.

Well, if I am indeed wrong, it is only because johnny lied to us about the two reason he values a Rolex.

How can anyone be expected to carry on a discussion of any topic with an admitted liar?
By johnforbes
#130676
Nonsense, Clown.

I like the Rolex look, and always have.

Liking something is different from whether you wear it daily.

When I go out to a good restaurant, or put on a suit for some meeting or event (fairly rare over the past lockdown year), I do wear a Rolex.

The interesting thing about them is that, almost akin to some pieces of art, they do appreciate.

johnny, reiterating that the only reasons you like a Rolex is its appearance and its monetary value does not show that I was speaking nonsense when I said the only reasons you like a Rolex is its appearance and its monetary value.

Quite the contrary.

Once again you are pretending that you disagree with me while admitting that you agree with what I said.

When I was living overseas, I had several chances to buy timepieces at very low prices given their value today.

Examples would include Submariners which went long ago for several hundred dollars in the PX system in Europe, and roughly equivalent prices were available in Swiss Francs in Zurich and Bern.

Black markets in Asia, of course, had a variety of products and -- in general -- that predated all of the replica stuff.

I always liked the appearance of many of the Rolex and Omega models, and some of them appeciated in value to the point that they outpaced decades of inflation.

You do love to repeat yourself ad nauseum, don't you, johnny. You're incredibly shallow. You're all about looks and money. We get it.

You do realize that all those people yawning around you aren't just sleepy, right?

Which is why my trusty staffers scan relentlessly for pearls of wisdom such as the following:
