Last month, on the eve of Passover, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu jumped onto his plane and rushed to Moscow. Mr. Netanyahu called President Vladimir Putin and said "we need to talk, I'm on my way". The trip took on the status of “high risk” even “near crisis.”In the mean time Russia continues to harass our jets, Obama's response was to have Rice send Putin a memo from the golf course asking Putin to please talk to his military. Just as Putin found out how Israel would respond, he found out how Obama would. Guess Putin is going to step up the aggression against.
Netanyahu was responding to Israeli jets being targeted and harassed by Russian jets. On his trip to Moscow Netanyahu was accompanied by the head of the Israeli air force, Major General Amir Eshel, as well as his military advisor, Brigadier General Eliezer Toledano. The Prime Minister of Israel headed straight into, so to speak, the lion’s den. The situation needed to be resolved immediately.
The meeting between Mr. Putin and Mr. Netanyahu lasted for about three hours. In the course of that meeting, Eshel and Toledano broke off and met with their Russian counterparts, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and his military team.
Mr. Putin is said to have been shocked by the information that Russian planes were aggressively engaging with Israeli planes over Syria. This dangerous game that they initiated and were playing with Israel had an objective. Mr. Putin wanted to see how Israel would respond. He wanted to know how quickly Israel would be to react and he found out.
Mr. Netanyahu warned allies “If you don’t deal with the friction, it will develop into something more serious.”
