Technically there are no qualifications to be on the Supreme Court. Congress would never allow an unqualified person to be approved though. Those who have never graduated from law school have served on the Court in the past.

Those who were commissioned before the mid- to late-19th century learned the law by studying and apprenticing with more experienced attorneys; states didn't mandate licensing until the 20th-century.
