ISIS took several major cities in Iraq this weekend, Obama needed a distraction so he approved of a raid the military has been waiting for approval on for months.
The White House held a rare event to celebrate the military’s successful operation in eastern Syria early Saturday, killing a leader of the Islamic State capturing his wife and freeing an 18-year-old Yazidi woman. First Lady Michelle Obama phrased the military for having the forethought to bring the Yazidi woman back with them rather than leaving her behind as the military has left non-American captives behind in the past.The above event was a distraction for the low information voters so they don't notice this:
ISIS took over the Iraqi city of Ramadi on Sunday, despite American airstrikes and the arrival of troop reinforcements from Baghdad. According to the New York Times, the Islamic State's successful effort to seize Ramadi began on Thursday, after over a year of taking up positions around the city and several months of attacks. "Ramadi has fallen. The city was completely taken," said Muhannad Haimour, a spokesperson for the governor of Anbar Province, where Ramadi is located. "It was a gradual deterioration. The military is fleeing." ISIS's complete takeover of Ramadi comes just two days after United States Special Operations forces killed one of the group's leaders in Syria although it was clear weeks ago Ramadi would fall to ISIS.
