1) The way I see it "Igor' was for whatever reason(s) a disgruntled employee of VW who not only stole all the content from the VW site and transferred it to VC ... He also changed all the locks and set fire to the VW building on his way out the door while holding the only set of keys. Which is why you're all left with nothing but a BB for the time being. So yeah. If you've already migrated to VC, know you're doing business with a thief if you paid for an account over there.
1A) In THAT regard it was VW ownerships fault for trusting him (Igor) with the all the keys. It's easy enough for even a novice like me to set up server(s) in a way that it requires 2 (or more) passwords to be entered/completed before anyone can make changes to my little, crappy, vintage car parts website. In other words, NOBODY can make changes to my site unless I'm aware of it. No reason in the world why the 'owner' of VW should not have done the same thing.
2) As I've stated in previous posts, there is NO WAY VW can possibly stop people from stealing your pics and stuff. Once you post them, they're 'out there' and there's no real way to 'track' them and recover 'damages' unless you're a lawyer with a lot of spare time on your hands. So if you don't want people who don't go to VW to see them ... Don't POST them.
2A) VW is not (legally) responsible for what becomes of your posts. They are YOUR property and by posting to VW you have given VW the right to post them. VW cannot possibly be held responsible for what happens to them after that.
3) Owning a website that has parts for sale, I can almost 100% assure you that neither VW nor VC has any knowledge of your personal info other than your user name and password. CC transactions are almost always handled by a 3rd-party (offsite) company so as to AVOID this kind of confusion when it pops up.
3A: If you have any doubts about it, just look at your CC transactions on-line. Every charge I make is posted by my bank within an hour or so. If yours doesn't, consider getting a new CC.
