We must all try to be kind to johnforbes who is doomed to think in cartoons and believes anyone who doesn't advocate for autocracy and oligarchy is a "Leftist".

And typical of johnforbes' childish thinking, he believes that simply announcing a ceasefire while the adversaries continue to launch rockets and bombs at each other while Trump whines like a petulant child that he is "not happy" with the enemies simply ignoring his silly declarations is somehow called "Peace". It isn't. Trump couldn't "cobble together" anything. He doesn't know how to "cobble together" anything. He only knows how to DECLARE a deal when there isn't one. Like his declaration that he recently made a trade deal with China when the deal consisted of an agreement to talk about a trade deal sometime in the future. Nothing has actually changed. That 'deal' was even less of a deal than the deal he made with China in his first administration which the Chinese failed to live up to with impunity. Some deal.

Also typical of that cartoon thinking is his childish belief that there are large numbers of people in America who would not embrace a lasting peace in the Middle East regardless of who brokered that peace. (Other than those Right Wing Zionist Christian nutjobs who want to see an all-out final Biblical battle for Jerusalem break out so that Jesus can return, of course. It is conservatives, not "Leftists" who are the ones who would actually, literally grieve for peace breaking out.)

Sadly, my only disappointment is seeing johnforbes here announcing that Peace is breaking out, because that invariably means Peace is NOT breaking out. johnforbes actually believes that simply saying something is happening means that it is actually happening. That's something that all Trump supporters believe. Remember how they are still adamant that Trump knows what he's doing when he said he could end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. They still believe him five months later as things are only getting worse there. That's how great the disconnect is between their Trumpist fanaticism and reality. It's mystifying that they want to live in that sort of dream world.

The rest of us can only cope with the grief of having so many of our fellow Americans believe in the delusion that ongoing "war" can somehow be called "peace" just because some clown told them so.
