Political discussions about everything

My high school was a strange place for sure, had its own dairy herd, its own rifle range, its own kitchen for "Home Ec."

Cars in the parking lot were left with keys in the ignition. There was no school security guard.

In my junior year, we were state champs in basketball. As to my senior year, I conveniently can't recall how well we did.

But, out of 100 grads, we had 7 National Merit Scholarship winners.

At my high school guys parked their pickups with gun racks in them and left their hunting rifles in the truck in plain view all day because they were going hunting after school on Fridays. In hind sight, their fathers should have told them to put the rifles in their lockers, I suppose. Much safer, right?

We shot our rifles in the grade school yard on weekends as parents drove by and waved.

Yep, probably safer than having hunting rifles merely on the rack in the pickup, but they did that where I grew up too.

There are more total guns in America today than back then, but the percentage of households having guns is smaller, but there were not school shootings back then.

Is the fault in our stars or in ourselves?

Actually, McConnell and Cornyn and a bunch of other RINOs in the Senate not only agreed to but rushed through (mostly unread) a bill to fund red flag laws in the states and some fine-tuning of waiting periods.

Leading to this question: Hasn't our society been interested in due process since 1215 and the Magna Carta, and hasn't the Sup Ct recently weighed in on the flaws in Red Flag laws?

People who donate to the RNC seem about as delusional as those who contribute to the DNC, eh?

If you have grievances about the policies that your radical right wing elected officials are spitting out....then you can always go to the radical right wing activist Supreme Court for resolution...then you can see what they spit out.

As the old saying goes....you reap what you sow. You people voted in a bunch of unprincipled ideologues who are not defending the constitution. Look no further than Trump's effort at overturning the election results and Marjorie Taylor Greene as she requested a pardon even though she was in office for 2 or 3 days?

Heavens, Roberts is only a nominal Repub who almost always votes with the Democrats like affirmative action Sotomayor and soon Ketanji.

There's nothing Right Wing about ditching Roe, or all the other substantive due process cases where activist justices simply made up things.

If I'm wrong, Elkin will find for me what part of the Constitution (or Federalist Papers) specifically cites abortion.

The supreme court is now controlled by a bunch of activist extremist right wing loons who are forcing their ideological beliefs on the populous of this nation. Thomas went out of his way to single out same sex marriage and contraceptives as another issue which needs to be re-hashed over again. And he reportedly told law clerks that he mission in life was to make liberals lives difficult. So obviously Thomas is bringing his baggage, grievances and is not acting in good faith by interpreting the constitution in a reasonable manner.

The truth is that Thomas was correct that gay marriage and other issues are NOT in the Constitution.

Not present, not suggested, not cited in the backdrop material such as Federalist Papers.

So yes, all that stuff should go back to the states and let them do whatever.

Chances are the states will be gentle to leftists, and chances are more abortions than ever will occur.

10th Amendment.

"The truth is that Thomas was correct that gay marriage and other issues are NOT in the Constitution."-johnfibs

No, dimwit, the 14th Amendment with it's guarantee of equal protection under the law says that is straights can marry whom they choose, the gays must also be allowed to marry whom they choose. Anything straights can do must also be protected for gays to do equally.

You really need to read the Constitution someday, johnny. It's all right there in black and white.

Of course, no amendment says anything of the sort.

The Sup Ct just made it up under the ridiculous notion of substantive due process.

From Griswold to gay marriage to abortion, none of this stuff is said or suggested by the Constitution, and it all belongs at the state level.

Despite the Left's whining, nothing has been taken away from them.
