Apparently Daszak dispersed about 7 million to Shi Zheng-li for coronavirus experiments involving taking the SARS1 virus and using spike protein from a bat virus.

Despite his own involvement, Daszak orchestrated the Lancet letter which was a success at keeping the Wuhan lab leak theory out of the media for a year.

Was this all hubris akin to Mary Shelley's tale, or an attempt to develop a super-virus in order to learn how to defeat it, or something else?
