Never in America's history has inflation climbed so fast as it has since Biden was elected. I told you so, don't blame me I voted for Trump.

Instead of lockdowns, shouldn't they have given out the medical facts and let businesses decide how best to cope?

With lockdowns destroying business, stimulus packages costing trillions were necessary, and that helped to set off inflation.

"Instead of lockdowns, shouldn't they have given out the medical facts and let businesses decide how best to cope?"-johnfoibles

No, of course not.

40% of businesses are run by Trump supporters who still, to this day, think the pandemic is a joke. They ignore "medical facts" because they believe the government is trying to fool them, so how can they be trusted to make the right choices, johnny? They will not listen to "medical facts." They ridicule mask wearing and refuse to take common sense precautions. (This is a fact. I have been to such businesses and had to turn around and leave before they killed me.) I don't have to shop there, but their employees have to work there. And no one has the right to cultivate a super spreader venue just to satisfy their irrational partisan political bullshit. I may not shop there, but I will come in contact with their employees and customers outside their businesses, in a grocery store, on the sidewalk, or elsewhere. It's unavoidable.

Epidemics are not like other sorts of problems facing a political entity like the U.S.. Viruses don't care about politics or your screwed up interpretation of the Constitution. You can't fight epidemics with politics and rhetoric, which is what Trump tried (and failed) to do and the 40% of his supporters who simply refuse to get vaccinated for any reason, ever, are still trying to do. (Some of them actually think they can fight the pandemic with "Jesus". That's how ignorant they are.) They won't even get vaccinated when their own families start dying. They will continue to spread the disease in their indignant righteousness over their imaginary 'rights' that have nothing to do with a virus. You don't leave these kinds of suicidal people in charge of a life and death situation the way johnforbes is suggesting.

The bottom line is, a society can't rely on the most ignorant among the population to control how we fight a pandemic at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives. That is exactly what johnforbes is proposing. They don't know anything about pandemics or how to stop them, and many don't even believe they are real, even in the face of more than 600,000 deaths. (Or, if you're johnforbes, more than 540,000 deaths still can't convince him.) Every country in the world is fighting this thing, but dimwitted Republicans still believe it is just a Democrat hoax and power grab. johnforbes is among those clowns. All the news reports from around the world can't put a dent in his thick partisan skull.

And I certainly shouldn't be sentenced to death because nit-picking assholes like johnforbes are whining about whether it's 600,000 deaths or 540,000 deaths, or whether the virus occurred naturally or was leaked from a lab (as if that matters in the least in fighting the pandemic) so he thinks he shouldn't be expected to follow the directions of the NIH and CDC because the numbers aren't perfect and the virus might have leaked from a lab. He's too stupid to understand the numbers never are perfect and never can be perfect, but are just tools, and the source of the virus doesn't change the fact that it is here and must be dealt with, regardless of where it came from. But someone's stupidity is no reason to ignore our public health experts who generally aren't as stupid as johnforbes, Donald Trump, and their ilk.

Incidentally, lockdowns have worked very well in Australia and New Zealand. People there have been walking around without masks and going to concerts and restaurants, etc. for the past year.Their businesses weren't destroyed en masse. New Zealand has had just 26 deaths and Australia has had just 925 deaths. The price they pay is occasional two week shut downs in limited areas whenever the virus shows up somewhere. The price we pay for our delusional 'rights' is 600,000 deaths and no end in sight, over stressed hospitals and exhausted medical staff, with another growing wave of illness that is almost exclusively hitting the young, healthy, and unvaccinated this time because we have bred a more virulent strain while Republicans are out getting votes by politicizing the pandemic.

Oh well, I guess it will mean that many fewer Trump voters next time around. So there is a silver lining to everything if you look for it hard enough.

Trying to figure out whether there was a natural host or whether there was a lab leak, that is the very nature of science.

Politics should not have been involved, but was.

Daszak orchestrated the Lancet letter, and that was used by FB, Twitter, and YouTube to censor and deplatform people for a year who dared to suggest the Wuhan lab leak theory which, of course, was always the only rational one put forward.

Think back a year and try to identify the suave luminary on this very forum who mocked the Vacationing Bat Theory.

Yep, it was Mr. Forbes.

And you STILL don't know whether it is right or wrong, but that doesn't stop you from posing as a smartass loser.

But I take it you agree that public health shouldn't be left in the hands of the most ignorant among us, or else you would have argued with me about it.
By johnforbes
#131505
Mr Forbes turned out to be correct that the Wuhan lab leak theory was the sole sensible theory.

Why?

Well, it was because he earned his science credentials from the University of Common Sense.

The Vacationing Bat theory, or some pangolin nonsense, never seemed credible.

Gosh darn that Mr. Forbes for being correct again.

Everyone knows, COVID came from the Wuhan lab, which was partly funded with American tax dollars authorized by Fauci. Everyone knows Democrats needed the crisis to have a chance to beat Trump by destroying the economy and causing fear. Everyone knows COVID has been hyped and is still being hyped by Democrats to push through their agenda. Everyone knows that Trump gave us the vaccine that makes COVID no more harmful than a cold. Everyone knows we should have never shut down the economy, everyone knows that people who always masks are getting COVID at the same rate as those who don't wear them. Anyone that doesn't know all this...has their head stuck up their ass.

Every morning, I do two things after my situps and first round of arm exercises:

1) I get a mug of coffee, look at the mist rising off the lake, and check to see whether Ava Gardner has emailed me asking for a date.

2) I ask my staff to ascertain what dumb things Clownslacker has posted on the Interwebs.
By Clownkicker
#131511
Get a clue, johnny. Look at that list of dumb things that RealTool just posted and maybe get your priorities straight.

Everybody knows RealTool is a real tool.

Anyone who doesn't know this has his head stuck up his ass.

Right johnny? Can you hear me with your head stuck that far up?

Being a simple lad from the country, I would ask:

Where is the Emergency Clause of the Constitution which permits lockdowns choosing what business survives and which must fail?
By Clownkicker
#131522
Being a simple dimwitted country bumpkin, johnforbes doesn't understand that the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services has legally granted emergency powers.

https://www.phe.gov/Preparedness/legal/ ... ation.aspx

This law has never been declared unConstitutional by the Supreme Court.

Live with it, dimwit.

I mean that--LIVE WITH IT. Die without it whenever there are clowns like Trump or Republicans in charge.

To be fair, elklindo, RealTool has only lost $10 per ounce since starting this thread four days ago, so he's doing much better than usual with his investment this time.
By johnforbes
#131529
To be fair, as I always am, it is insane for some entity to try to invade privacy of contract and force landlords to have squatters on their property.

If Congress passes a law in proper order, then maybe so.

But not by executive fiat, and Biden admitted as much the other day.

Even a guy who had to leave law school for plagiarism, then get back in, would know that the Executive Branch cannot act like the Congress.

To his credit, Obama admitted 7 times on video that he had no authority to do DACA, but did it anyhow.

We don't -- at least yet -- have dictators.

Does anyone else notice that johnforbes pretends to dislike lockdowns (which we never really had anywhere for more than a few weeks, and we certainly never had them everywhere) to fight a pandemic because they cause lost businesses, lost jobs, homelessness, mental health issues, and financial problems, but then he turns around and says he supports putting 30 or 40 million people out into the street without any housing.

I'd say that's a serious homelessness, mental health, and financial problem which johnforbes pretends he is against being allowed to happen because of a pandemic, but he really isn't. He will fight for landlords' God-given rights to make millions of people homeless. After all, this is America where it's your right to watch people die in the street. It's every man for himself in johnforbes' world. Fuck promoting the general welfare. The partisan entertainment value of watching millions suffer sure beats the landlords being paid by pandemic relief programs, eh? What fun is that?

Does anyone else see johnforbes inhumane hypocrisy?
By johnforbes
#131535
I sure don't.

As I scrutinize the posts from Mr. Forbes, I see him as charming, urbane, polite, handsome, and just generally a bon vivant.

Yes, johnny, vile assholes never see themselves as the vile assholes they are.

Your lack of self-awareness doesn't surprise anyone.

Well don't I have egg on my face...

Gold just dropped another $40. Who could have seen THAT coming?

I can picture a bewildered RealTool moping around his house wondering how this keeps happening to him.

It's like reality keeps conspiring against him and he can't understand why it consistently doesn't do what he wants.

It's a Trump-supporter thing. johnny understands.

Thanks to Clown for appreciating my perception and understanding.

Compliments from Clown always get my day off to a good start.

As yet another August afternoon slowly fades into evening, I'd like to thank Clownslacker for so graciously conceding his own errors.

Even when Clown is wrong so often -- indeed, repeatedly -- it is still graceful of him to admit his many faults, flaws, weak points, defects, mistakes, oversights, etc.
By Clownkicker
#131568
And gold drops another $20.

RealTool is really squirming on this one. His record as the board's perfect negative indicator is still intact.

I've discussed investing many times with Clown.

His performance so far this century -- an average annual total return of 0.0018 percent -- is impressive.

Like Elvis Presley's parents at the time of his first recording, Clown is living on public assistance.

As stated previously, I respect Clown for becoming a thousandaire.

His net worth is $2,189.69.

Geezus, johnny, get some new material already. That one lost any of its alleged humor at least ten years ago.

You know, after the tenth time you used it because you lack any actual wit whatsoever.

There is one thing worse than being a lying, partisan, sack of shit, johnny, and that's being a lying, partisan, sack of shit bore.

Stop it already, for everyone's sake, including your own.
