The Supreme Court ruled Thursday for the Trump administration in a key immigration case, determining that a federal law limiting an asylum applicant’s ability to appeal a determination that he lacked a credible fear of persecution from his home country does not violate the Constitution.Oh happy days!!!!
The ruling means the administration can deport people seeking asylum without allowing them to make their case to a federal judge. The 7-2 ruling makes them eligible for quick deportation and reverses Obama's direction that required federal court hearings prior to deportation. Obama's requirement to afford every asylum seeker a hearing before a federal judge resulted in deportation delays of a year or more. In a majority of those cases, the asylum seeker failed to show for their hearings and faded into America's population.
