No President was ever as inarticulate as Trump, period.
Listen to Trump desperately search for words when he can't think of more than one way to say something. It's genuinely painful.
Trump talks like a child, repeating the same limited 5000-word vocabulary over and over because he can't think of any other way to express himself. Nuance is beyond his grasp. Everything is a ridiculous superlative for him. Everything is "the best" or "the greatest" regardless of the unfortunate facts surrounding his topic.
And when words fail him, he fills in with lies. Like a few days ago after Powell testified before Congress, Trump then said everything is okay because China is paying for the tariffs. Every economist in the world--as well as johnforbes--understands who is actually paying the tariffs. Every economist completely disagrees with Trump on who's paying the tariffs, but Trump flat out lies because he knows his entire base is too ignorant and stupid to question the things he says.
Trump is a master of talking at the mental level of his base. Of course, he can't talk at any other level without his teleprompter. But to the rest of us, his juvenile rhetoric is excrutiating to sit through.
