It used to be if you wanted to immigrate to the United States you had to prove you wouldn't be a burden to U.S. citizens and had skills that were needed. Now they swarm in and sign and demand housing, food, medical and schooling while offering nothing. Until this is stopped our debt will continue to sky rocket. Obama built that!!!
#117444
One of the worst Supreme Ct decisions ever was the one 15 or 20 yrs back which said illegals could get free education.

The theory behind it was that the cost would be small, and it was the proper thing to do to educate society.

Such noble sentiments and naivete merely lured in more illegals for the freebies, and still the Democrats want open borders to ruin the country.

Too, the amount of federal money spent on illegals is minuscule compared to the national debt. You can't blame immigrants for Trump's disastrous spending and trade destruction policies.

The current ballooning of the debt is directly related to the ridiculous Trump tax cuts that have produced nothing in improved economic growth or increased tax revenues.

Trump claimed the tax cuts would give us 4% growth. But the fact is growth under Trump hasn't exceeded growth under Obama and can't touch the growth under Clinton.

Wrong all the way around once again Clown. As a result of Trump's actions, the United States brought in more taxes in 2018 than ever before, that's because more people were employed, meaning more people to pay taxes, companies have started spending, people have started buying, all generating record amounts of taxes.

The debt is a result of the bloated Government and new government positions Obama built up over 8 years. Trump is off to a good start but Congress is doing everything they can to keep the President but taking an ax to our government. When Obama took office, the Health and Human Services was spending $52 billion a month, when he left office it was spending over $100 billion a month( Thank you Obamacare). Every agency except the military drastically increased spending under Obama, that's the legacy Obama left Trump to deal with.

Obama also opened the flood gates and changed the rules to allow our country to be infested with 1000's of illegals a day, the vast majority receiving more federal assistance than the average retired citizen receiving social security.

Democrats want to drive up the debt even more on the back of citizens to care for illegals' wants and needs.

It's as I just commented on another thread. johnforbes BLAMES Obama for the debt accrued during his tenure but makes excuses for Trump's equally bad annual increases in the debt.

To johnny, Obama was a "drunken sailor" and he criticizes him for it, but Trump is just an unfortunate victim of powers beyond his control.

Not at all.

I've said a thousand times that debt matters regardless who runs it up.

Obama doubled the debt, adding NINE TRILLION, and adding more than all prior presidents combined.

It is a tad early to blame Trump for his 1 trillion because the theory is that you can cut taxes and grow your way out, and I do agree with that as a theory.
#117592
So is it now your assertion that Trump is "spending like a drunken sailor"?

"It is a tad early to blame Trump for his 1 trillion because the theory is that you can cut taxes and grow your way out, and I do agree with that as a theory."-johnforbes

"Candidate Trump had two strategies to reduce the U.S. debt. He promised to grow the economy 6 percent annually to increase tax revenues. But once in office, he lowered his growth estimate to 3.5 percent to 4 percent.

Trump promised to achieve 4 percent growth with tax cuts. In his first 100 days, he released the outline of would become the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It cut the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent beginning in 2018. The top individual income tax rate drops to 37 percent. It doubles the standard deduction and eliminates personal exemptions. The corporate cuts are permanent, while the individual changes expire at the end of 2025.

But Trump's tax cuts won't stimulate the economy enough to make up for lost tax revenue. According to the Laffer curve, tax cuts only do that when the rates were above 50 percent. It worked during the Reagan administration because the highest tax rate was 90 percent."-thebalance.com

"At first, it seemed Trump was lowering the debt. It fell $102 billion in the first six months after Trump took office. [Remember, this was under an Obama budget]

On September 8, 2017, Trump signed a bill increasing the debt ceiling. Later that day, the debt exceeded $20 trillion for the first time in U.S. history. On February 9, 2018, Trump signed a bill suspending the debt ceiling until March 1, 2019. It was $22 trillion. In just two years,Trump has overseen the fastest dollar increase in the debt of any president.

Trump's Fiscal Year 2020 budget projects the debt would increase $5 trillion during his first term. That's as much as Obama added while fighting a recession. Trump has not fulfilled his campaign promise to cut the debt. Instead, he's done the opposite."-thebalance.com

As we can clearly see, Trump's own fiscal projections prove it is NOT a tad too early to blame Trump for his trillion dollar debt increase.
It is also clear that his huge tax cut giveaway to the wealthy did nothing to improve the economy over previous projections.

If you really want to know who's REALLY "DRIVING UP NATIONAL DEBT", all you need to do is look at Trump and the Republican Senate who just agreed to increase spending by an additional $320 billion but only made cuts of $72 billion.

Trump agreed to spend like a drunken sailor while tax revenues are down SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE OF the Trump tax cuts, which is driving up the debt even faster than would have otherwise occurred.

Hypocrite johnforbes will have no criticism of Trump for this despite these glaring facts. He will be here making more pathetic excuses for Trump and Republican behavior again. Partisan hypocrites always support their fellow partisan hypocrites.

"No, it still is a bit early."-johnfibs

johnny, the tax cuts have been in place for over 18 months. There has been no bump at all in tax revenues all that time.
Keep in mind that it is the White House's own current projections that predict massive deficits with no tax revenue increase. And any White House tends to make their own projections on the rosy side. Trump must be expecting a real disaster if he admits WITH HIS OWN PROJECTIONS that things are not going to improve.

"For any president, you need to let a policy operate before assessing it."-johnflubs

Trump's policy has been in force for eighteen months with NO positive result. In fact, it has had a negative result. Tax revenues are DOWN and nobody thinks they are going to go up.

"Also, if Dems ever work with Trump on infrastructure, you'll see debt go up even more, and that could be a problem."-johnfoibles

You mean if TRUMP ever works with DEMS, johnny. But we already know that Trump WON'T ever do that, don't we, because he already said he would work on infrastructure to both Democrats and Republicans and then reneged on his agreement the next day. So no problem there, is there, johnny?

"Let's bear in mind that Obama added NINE TRILLION."-johnflubs

Let's bear in mind that Trump is growing the debt EVEN FASTER than Obama did. But johnforbes has no critical comment for THAT.
#117826
Rate is not necessarily outcome, although I hasten to agree I don't like debt or a fast rate of building it.

But 18 months is a brief time.

Ideally, you'd want 5 yrs to assess a cycle like that, although not every president gets that stretch of time.

Bear in mind too that Trump has done everything in his tenure despite Dems resisting him in every proper way.

And in improper ways by protecting Hillary with a fake investigation while wiretapping Trump based on a fake dossier which Mueller et al. surely had to know was fake.

INS reported they are spending billions every month for the social needs of the millions of illegals and when asked if they're taking the money donated to help care for them, they're response was what donations?

None of these whining libtards who are crying for the cameras about the conditions of the children are donating one dime or one hour of their own time to help those children. It's enough to make a person sick.
#118044
The main social needs of illegals are sketched out below:

1) They need a host country which will be suckers and allow them entry despite no education, no fluency in English, no vocational skill, and no desire to learn English.

2) They need free hospitals to help the unmarried mothers of their many kids.

3) They need streets amenable to twilight poker games.

4) They need places to sit along the street and drink cheap wine on summer evenings.

5) They need translators to inform them how to pretend to be refugees.

These are the basics.

And I suppose they do all of the jobs that entitled whites are too good to do because the deplorables would rather sit around in their shitty trailer parks, shoot up hillbilly heroin and collect welfare.

Elkin, I grew up doing arduous manual labor of the sort you've never done and are not man enough to do.

Thus, you are poorly positioned to talk about jobs Americans won't do.

There is no job too dirty or rough for an American to do for a living wage, and the TV show "Dirty Jobs" proved that even to urban wimps such as Elkin.
