Basically he has stated that we need to pay more in energy costs because it's unfair to the rest of the world if we don't. He has said that we should not be in a leadership position in the world because it makes people hate us so he has been bowing to other world leaders and voluntarily trying to place us in a subordinate position among world powers. HE is strongly for redistribution of wealth and creating class warfare in the US. He seems to be proud of the face that half of Americans are living off of the other half with refundable tax credits, and the highest welfare and food stamp rolls in history. Hell he even renamed the food stamp program SNAP to make it seem more hip to the people getting it. He widely ignores existing federal laws on immigration and anywhere else he feels like going rogue. He is constantly trying to circumvent the constitution and the checks and balances put in place by the founding fathers rather than changing the constitution as provided for within the constitution. The fact that we have 27 Constitutional Amendments shows that the system can and does work without trying to circumvent it. I would type more but this is enough to get the idea across.

Romney wants to become president of the United States but he deposits his money in Swiss Bank Accounts and the Cayman Islands. To finally answer your questions as to why BHO and the Democrats do it. This country was founded on the idea that we have the freedoms to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. We have had laws in place that opened the way to freedom of opportunity and many enterprising people have taken advantage of those laws and used the opportunity to create business's pursue financial gain through education and investment and through hard work. Some people have been better at it than others and have reaped great financial reward and the power that rising into leadership positions through hard work have brought them.

Now we have a President who hates equal opportunity and wants equal results for unequal effort. The whole Democratic party seems to believe the same thing. They say it's only fair that we all share equally in the fruits of other peoples risk, and hard work. BHO thinks it's unfair that as a country we have thrived while other countries have been in the third world their whole existence and the Democrats seem to be right there with him. The whole idea is that we need to be taken down a few notches out of fairness to the rest of the world. They think we need to loose our leadership position because it's unfair for us to have so much political influence in the world. They want to break us economically so we can't bully other countries through economic might any more. When you see government bailouts that have a greater influence in other countries with more new factories and plants creating jobs in other countries than here at home, where you see government intrusion in "Green Energy" that sends most of its money to foreign companies that lead the way in these areas, you can see that we are at the bottom of their agenda.

Right now about the only real places we still lead the world is in military power which has been undermined by this administration and government and private debt which the administration seems to like since it feeds their idea of fairness.
