Looks like Mueller's judge shopping failed.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Reuters) - A federal judge on Friday sharply criticized Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s criminal case in Virginia against President Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, and openly questioned whether Mueller exceeded his prosecutorial powers by bringing it.

“I don’t see what relationship this indictment has with anything the special counsel is authorized to investigate,” U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis in the Eastern District of Virginia said.

At tense hearing at the federal courthouse in Alexandria, Virginia, the judge said Mueller should not have “unfettered power” in his Russia probe and that the charges against Manafort did not arise from the investigation into Moscow’s alleged meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.

The judge asked the special counsel’s office to share privately with him a copy of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosentein’s August 2017 memo elaborating on the scope of Mueller’s Russia probe. He said the current version he has been heavily redacted to the point it's meaningless.

He's one happy camper! Another victory for Trump.

A federal judge expressed deep skepticism Friday in the bank fraud case brought by special counsel Robert Mueller's office against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, at one point saying he believes that Mueller's motivation is to oust President Donald Trump from office.

Tool, you do realize this doesn't mean anything for Manafort.

Notice the judge didn't throw the case out. He just demanded more redacted information.

"Another victory"

You clowns are like Trump; always celebrating prematurely. (Ask your wives what that means.)

Manafort will be back in court 'mañana'. He certainly isn't off the hook yet.
#102939
Yes, that's good. Every judge should make sure a case falls within his jurisdiction and that the prosecution is valid.

But as soon as this same judge comes up with any ruling in favor of the prosecution, you clowns will be here once again saying he's wrong and that he doesn't know his job and he's a Democrat so the fix was in.

It's just the way conservative minds work. If things don't go your way, it's obviously because of the "Deep State".

The judge is a smart cookie, if he had thrown it out they would have just refiled charges with another judge. By not throwing it out, they can't go judge shopping, they're stuck with him. NOW they either give him everything he wants to see or they have to drop the charges, which means they can't later file them with another judge. That judge now has the opportunity to fully expose the fake Mueller investigation for what it is.

Clown you say this doesn't mean anything for Manafort, you're pretty stupid dude. Not only does it mean Manafort won't be convicted it's also a YUGE break for Trump since that judge, after reviewing the evidence and listening to the lawyers, backs up everything Trump has been claiming.
The judge summed up the argument of the Special Counsel’s Office as, "We said this was what [the] investigation was about, but we are not bound by it and we were lying." "You lied about the scope of the investigation, are seeking unfettered power and are more interested in bringing down the president."

"You don't really care about Mr. Manafort,” U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III told Mueller’s team. “You really care about what information Mr. Manafort can give you to lead you to Mr. Trump and an impeachment, or whatever."

Mueller's agenda has now been made public in a federal court....He is on notice
Yep

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis "I've looked at what they've presented as evidence and listened to their case; this Mueller team is 'lying,' trying to bring down the President, they don't have me fooled: 'C'mon man!'

The judge also gave the government two weeks to hand over the unredacted “scope memo” or provide an explanation why not -- after prosecutors were reluctant to do so, claiming it has material that doesn’t pertain to Manafort.

“I’ll be the judge of that,” Ellis said.

Didn't all Dems feel the same way when Ken Starr began with Whitewater and ended up with DNA on a blue dress?

Clinton was not kicked out because people simply couldn't understand how his private conduct, although disgraceful, rose to the level to warrant him being removed.

This special counsel stuff always comes back to bite the other party.

As to Rosenstein's guidance to Mueller, no crime has ever been stated he is supposed to investigate.

The mandate was look at Trump and try to pin something on him or his associates.

As namandgulfdumbfuck knows, if there's no link, then it's made up and RealTool just pulled it out of someone's ass.

Feel free to ask RealTool to answer your query, namandgulf.

Don't ask me why he didn't post a link, you fucking hypocritical douche bag.

Tool, you're one of those clowns criticizing the FBI for not stopping the shooter in Florida because a lot of people had reported the guy was disturbed but hadn't yet committed a crime.

What you were insisting was that law enforcement should have done something to prevent him from committing a crime in the future because they had all sorts of tips the guy was a concern.

In other words, you wanted law enforcement to investigate a person and not a crime.

Now you're trying to have it both ways by taking the liberal stance instead of your previous knee jerk conservative authoritarian stance.

Conservatives---- always the hypocrites.

So you compare investigating a guy who told people he was going to shoot up a school, to investigating Trump because he beat Hillary even though she was supposed to win?
#102981
So you're comparing investigating a person instead of a crime with NOT investigating a person instead of a crime?
Do you ever listen to yourself?

Like I said, you're trying to have it both ways. You want to be a knee jerk authoritarian conservative when it suits you, but pretend you're a liberal the rest of the time.

In other words, you have no values beyond political expediency.
It's the same reason you hate the ACLU. Their sole job is to defend the Bill of Rights, regardless of political expediency, but being a conservative, you hate them for it.

Aahhh, it's good to see namandgulf showed up to tell RealTool that he's full of shit and that what he posted is a lie because there is no link.

Why won't RealTool post links? is what namandgulf and I want to know.

Thanks for the support, namangulf. We have to keep these imbeciles honest.

WOW...You know it's getting bad for Mueller when even liberal school professor Alan Dershowitz admits the Mueller investigation is nothing more than an attempt to remove the President and it's now been exposed by a Federal Judge.
Alan Dershowitz: Judge in Paul Manafort case blew the whistle on Mueller investigation. Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law School professor emeritus, said the federal judge in the Paul Manafort case has validated his arguments against special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into President Trump’s campaign.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III pressed Justice Department lawyers on Friday to explain how they did not exceed the scope of Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, and debated whether their ultimate goal was to get Manafort to turn on Trump.

“You don’t really care about Mr. Manafort’s bank fraud ... You really care about getting information Mr. Manafort can give you that would reflect on Mr. Trump and lead to his prosecution or impeachment,” Ellis told the Justice Department lawyers during Manafort’s court appearance in Virginia.

The right has gone apeshit bananas over the judges comments in court the other day. Conservatards are are stupid enough to believe Ellis is gonna let Manafort go free on multiple felony charges.

(buzzer going off in the background) Wrong again neoclownies....

The judge was concerned about the proper jurisdiction, not guilt or innocence.

You know...every day in the white house is Groundhog day with assholes. Trump lies, one of his minions covers for him, and he throws them under the bus.

What lies are you referring to?

But it's a link! You know what that means.

Don't shoot the messenger, dimwit. All you have to do is read it. You've already heard the lies yourself. They just point out why they are lies, and that's the part you are unaware of since you are a Trump tool.

But being a conservative, you only believe what you WANT to believe, regardless of all facts to the contrary.

Reality is alien to you, as you prove here every day.

Elkin, please recognize your limitations.

Your analysis of this as a legal problem was quite wrong.

The judge -- any judge -- was quite correct in demanding the letter(s) of authority to see why Mueller was even looking at Manafort.

Everybody knows that Mueller couldn't care less about Manaford or Flynn, but was just squeezing them to get to Trump.

For heaven's sake, Rosenstein apparently never even was able to state what crime may have been done here.

This entire mess was a partisan witch hunt.
