Yep....when Obama gave them the money...he could have easily transferred it to their accounts...
But their accounts were frozen and any money in there had to be used only to provide for the people, food, clothing, etc.....that was part of the sanctions...So he gave it to them in cash and in several currencies. US Dollars, Pounds, Francs, etc. so they would have no trouble using it around the world...Obama clearly violated the sanctions.. :o

The Obama administration refused to explain what fund those billions in cash snuck in on planes came from. It handled like a Ocha drug deal using laundered money. All the United States got out of it was signed piece of paper that Obama could claim he had solved the Iran nuclear crisis as part of his legacy, when all he did was give them the money and freed up the technology for them speed the program up...but hey, let the next President deal with the Iran nukes, he got a signed piece of paper.

"when Obama gave them the money...he could have easily transferred it to their accounts..."-sillydummy

Yeah, dummy, he gave them back their own money and saved billions for the U.S..

"...the $400 million dollar transfer was actually an openly announced one, paid in settlement of a nearly 40-year dispute between Iran and the United States — a settlement that likely saved the United States several billion dollars.

Back in late 1979, after Iranian revolutionaries took 52 Americans hostage at the US Embassy in Tehran, the United States severed diplomatic relations with Iran and froze Iranian assets in America. Among those frozen assets was a $400 million delivery of fighter jets from the U.S. that Iran’s previous government had already paid for.

Although the American hostages were finally released a year later, issues such as the frozen Iranian assets (including that $400 million) were not settled at that time. Instead, an international court based in the Hague, the Iran–United States Claims Tribunal was established to deal with such legal claims. The tribunal process dragged on for years and years without a ruling on the $400 million being issued, and finally, when arbitration process was apparently about to wind up (quite possibly not in American’s favor), the U.S. agreed to pay Iran back the $400 million principal along with $1.3 billion in interest. If the issue had gone to the tribunal for a decision, as was expected, the U.S. could have been on the hook for the full $10 billion in compensation Iran was seeking.

It is true the U.S. agreed to the settlement at the same time it was negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran and for the return of four U.S. citizens who had been detained by Iran. However, the negotiations over these these issues were conducted by completely separate teams in order to avoid any overlap or suggestions of connections between them."

Why you imbeciles don't think a country should get their money back on a deal the U.S. reneged on is typical conservatard hypocrisy.

You conservatives all pretend to be capitalists.....until you have to actually make good on a deal. Then you just want to keep the money and tell the others to fuck off.

Abiding by the ruling of the international court in the Hague in a dispute that was ongoing for 40 years is not a violation of sanctions, dimwit.

Here's how you can tell if johnforbes is a moron.

He can't understand that since the U.S. had no official diplomatic relations with Iran, it would be inappropriate to fly U.S. military planes into Iran.

He also can't understand that if you want money to arrive in Iran during the daytime, you leave the U.S. at night. DUH...

He also can't understand that when someone asks for their own money back at pennies on the dollar, you give it to them in the form they request.

But then, johnforbes is one of those ignorant flat earthers who doesn't even understand that it's dark on one side of the Earth while it's light on the other, so no one is surprised that he's an easily duped partisan hack.

That money was transferred electronically to their bank. The cash flown in on pallets had nothing to do with seized Iranian funds.

I provided evidence, Tool. But you need to be able to read in order to grasp it, so that leaves you out.

Meanwhile, you're the one that claims the plane loads of cash didn't belong to Iran, back it up...you can't because it was the funds that Iran had paid for fighter jets that were never delivered.

It was never argued otherwise by anyone, even on FOX news. Everyone knows it. Every President since Carter knows it. The international court knows it. And Obama announced it before the transfer took place.

The only one who doesn't know it is you.

Here's how you know Clownslacker is both clown and slacker.

First, it is sometimes dark, sometimes not. If you want to land in daylight, you plan ahead.

Second, you can fly a U.S. military plane any place it wants to go, and it was never necessary to embark on the sleazy tactics used in the Iran "deal."

Third, if you give huge amounts of cash to a land which is helping to fund terrorism, you are helping to fund terrorism.

At the end of every thread, as twilight lends a glow to the landscape, we all want to learn something from the discourse.

Here, we have learned one salient point -- that it is dark at night, and that said darkness helps provide cover when giving tons of cash to corrupt officials who will use it to sponsor terrorism.
