Political discussions about everything

A woman approached The Post with dramatic — and false — tale about Roy Moore. She appears to be part of undercover sting operation.

A woman who falsely claimed to The Washington Post that Roy Moore, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Alabama, impregnated her as a teenager appears to work with an organization that uses deceptive tactics to secretly record conversations in an effort to embarrass its targets.

In a series of interviews over two weeks, the woman shared a dramatic story about an alleged sexual relationship with Moore in 1992 that led to an abortion when she was 15. During the interviews, she repeatedly pressed Post reporters to give their opinions on the effects that her claims could have on Moore's candidacy if she went public.

The Post did not publish an article based on her unsubstantiated account. When Post reporters confronted her with inconsistencies in her story and an Internet posting that raised doubts about her motivations, she insisted that she was not working with any organization that targets journalists.

But on Monday morning, Post reporters saw her walking into the New York offices of Project Veritas, an organization that targets the mainstream news media and left-leaning groups. The organization sets up undercover "stings" that involve using false cover stories and covert video recordings meant to expose what the group says is media bias.

James O'Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas who was convicted of a misdemeanor in 2010 for using a fake identity to enter a federal building during a previous sting, declined to answer questions about the woman outside the Project Veritas office, a storefront in Mamaroneck, N.Y., on Monday morning shortly after the woman walked inside.

The paper, now owned by Left Wing Bezos, clearly went down to Alabama hoping to come up with something to destroy Moore.

If the Washington Post had an "rigor" (as it claims), it would go after the Clinton Foundation.

But Hillary, like the reporters, is Democrat.

namandgulfdumbfuck is too stupid to understand that he just posted an article exposing the corruption of the Right.

Project Veritas is a RIGHT WING organization, dumbfuck. They were telling lies hoping to embarrass the Post.
The trouble is, The Post checks its stories before they publish them, so the con job exposed the dishonesty of the conservatives at Project Veritas again.

But thanks for the story about lying conservatives, namandgulf, you moron.

I stand corrected. It was a right wing origination that investigates corrupt left wing reporters and origination. they went to the post hoping to catch them with their pants down. For once the post did a background chek on this person and found she was lying. Normally the post well publish crap without cheking. so yes kudos to the post

Crud, namandgulf, if you're going to start owning your mistakes, I'll have to stop calling you names.
Then where will we be? We might actually have to talk to each other. (Sends a shiver down you spine, doesn't it?)

It's not often someone here will admit they were wrong. Way to go.

I'm glad the Post checks some things.

Here's my problem, though. The "rigor" assertion was comical. The Post has been a pro-Democrat paper ever since the Grahams got in control after WW II.

Woodward and Bernstein went after Nixon because Nixon was a Repub.

During Clinton's intern scandal, the Post urged restraint, due process, and "proportional justice," saying it was only lies under oath about sex and begging that Bill be allowed to remain in office.

As it happens, I sorta concurred that Bill Clinton, who was elected by the voters, should have remained in office under those circumstances. Lies under oath are important, but there's also something tough about removing an elected president. And the Senate didn't do that.

Now today, with Moore, the Post urges that Moore step down without the slightest shred of real evidence beyond a forged yearbook.
