Frankfurt am Main (AFP) - Europe "must take its fate into its own hands" faced with a western alliance divided by Brexit and Donald Trump's presidency, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Sunday. "The times in which we could completely depend on others are on the way out. I've experienced that in the last few days," Merkel told a crowd at an election rally in Munich, southern Germany. "We Europeans truly have to take our fate into our own hands," she added.
While Germany and Europe would strive to remain on good terms with America and Britain, "we have to fight for our own destiny", Merkel went on.

NATO is far outdated and so are it's members and policies. The United States has been providing other NATO countries with American blood and money to protect them while those very countries have charged us outrageous rent for land to house our men and women, their to fight for them. Germany is one of the worse, they cut back their defense budget while demanding the United States pay and do more to protect them. We pay billions every year to the German government so they "allow" us to operate military bases in their country.

Lots have changed since NATO was formed in 1949, we no longer need to have thousands of soldiers stationed oversees, the battle fields and rules of combat have changed. Merkel is correct, under Trump, Europe will need to do more to defend themselves and can no longer count on the billions of dollars we pay to defend them.

Time to get with the times.

Yep, they allowed us to fly through their airspace and use the NATO military bases we paid for. A attack on one is an attack on all...there are 28 NATO members, why were 95% of fighting casualties Americans? You can bet that if any of the other 27 NATO members are attacked, they're counting on 95% of fighting casualties to be Americans again.
