Political discussions about everything

Dershowitz voted for Hillary, but says the special counsel is absurd and there's no underlying crime even alleged.

As to obstruction of justice, that's obviously absurd, and he called to mind Jefferson threatening Marshall of a real problem which nonetheless didn't result in charges.

Actually it's the Demos that are now more worried than ever.....
John King and his panel on CNN started attacking Pence... Why?
King says it makes sense the Demos will have to face him in 2024..!!

Just when the Demos thought....Hmmm Oh Well !!

"King says it makes sense the Demos will have to face him in 2024..!!"-sillydaddy

Now that sounds like some made up stupid shit.
King would know that even Republicans aren't stupid enough to nominate Trump again in 2020, so why would Pence wait until 2024 to run?

Get real, silly.

Address the OP AssClown.

Although Dershowitz is an avowed liberal he still staunchly supports the rule of law and for that he must be respected.

In point of fact, during the discussion on CNN from which this assertion was taken, he got into quite a heated debate with one of those demented loons who can only screech about Trump's impeachment and successfully shouted the idiot down with reason, logic and facts. A tactic not often employed by the left.

Let's just take the obstruction notion.

If you want to know what obstruction really looks like, take a gander at Lois Lerner's "scratched" hard drive and her "missing" tape backup -- missing after being under congressional subpoena.

Even if Trump asked if Comey could "see his way clear" to do something, that's merely one part of the Exec Branch speaking to another.

On May 3, Comey testified under oath and told the senator from Hawaii that none of his investigations had been halted or blocked.

On May 11, the liberal McCabe of the FBI (whose wife took $700,000 from Hillary's pal) testified that the FBI had plenty of resources and its work was going on unimpeded.

So this is all nonsense, and Mueller (BA, MA, Vietnam USMC, JD) will see that.

You dimwits don't seem to understand that "obstruction of justice" is irrelevant to the Special Counsel's existence.
Dershowitz gave an opinion about one aspect of this case based on what he thinks he knows about one particular alleged incident. (In other words, his opinion is rock-solid to a conservative.)
But for the sake of argument, let's stipulate that there was no obstruction in the Comey firing incident.
Fine. So what? As johnforbes said (without any supporting evidence, as always) there was "No Underlying Crime Even Alleged"

"Dershowitz Says Special Counsel Will Help Trump: 'He's Going to Find No Crime' "-FOXnews Insider
So why aren't you dishonest scum applauding the Special Counsel instead of whining about him?
According to FOXnews, Dershowitz believes Mueller will clear Trump, and we can see how much you and FOXnews value a Dershowitz legal opinion.
Apparently you all are convinced Trump has nothing to worry about. So why are your panties in a bunch?

No, don't panic. You don't have to actually think about something. I'll tell you why.

News flash: The Special Counsel's job is not to look into the Comey firing. :o
You clowns starting with the startling assumption there was no obstruction of justice changes nothing at all about the Special Counsel's job, but you morons can't seem to grasp that fact. And if there were campaign ties to Russia (as all the evidence seems to indicate) even you pliable tools should want to know about them. You should want to clear Trump of anything those working for him might have done without his knowledge because it could indicate a threat to the very existence of our Republic.
It would have been far better if the Republicans had taken their Congressional oversight responsibilities seriously in the first place, but they didn't. Don't bitch at 'liberals' about it. Bitch at them.

Who knows what Mueller will uncover? Dershowitz certainly doesn't, and neither do you clowns.
But here you are jumping to conclusions about things you don't know any more about than Dershowitz does before the investigation even begins.
The only thing we do know is that he will uncover the stuff Republicans were so desperately trying to hide.

(Now let's watch as Loser Boy AssClown Insipid does his "Sergeant Schultz routine" for my amusement.)

My only problem with the special counsel is that ethics in D.C. are only for Repubs.

There was a LONG list of Obama scandals (lies to push through Obamacare, the IRS targeting of political enemies, etc) with no special counsel appointed.

Did Holder or Lynch -- both very biased racially and politically -- recuse themselves?

No.

Here, there isn't even an allegation of any underlying crime.

So Mueller will look, but for what?

It is a great retirement gig for him, but he already had one which surely paid more.
#87728
So why didn't the Republicans do their jobs and take their oversight Responsibilities seriously with Obama either?
Why didn't they start and conclude hearings into all these alleged 'crimes and scandals' by Obama before he slipped out of their fingers after EIGHT YEARS?

"ethics in D.C. are only for Repubs."?
In case you didn't notice, the Repubs are running things, johnny. (If you can call that "running things")
But you're mad at liberals and Democrats?

Not to worry, johnny.
Dershowitz has told you Trump will be cleared of wrongdoing, and there is no legal opinion you value more than his.

Now turn off the FOXnews and start holding the right people responsible for the things you're pissed about.
#87729
Well, there are many legal opinions obviously, but Dershowitz has always been worth listening to because of his brainpower.

His background is easy to Google.

He is a liberal Democrat, but unlike many others he retains rationality.

Nobody has even alleged an underlying crime here, and the sole reason for the special counsel is to appease Democrats who lost the 2016 election.

Should Holder have appointed a special counsel for "Fast and Furious," and should Lynch have done one for the IRS targeting?

Sure, but Democrats have no ethics.

Look at the Washington Post, so haughty and so moral re Watergate, but when Bill Cinton got blowjobs from an intern and lied under oath, the Post felt impeachment too harsh.

When Nixon wanted to abuse the IRS for political reasons, the Post was furious (and properly so).

When Obama actually did abuse the IRS the same way, Democrats thought it was dandy.

"... and the sole reason for the special counsel is to appease Democrats who lost the 2016 election."-johnforbes

Are you KIDDING?
Sure, the Republicans are all about the appeasement of Democrats.
johnny, have you even heard of the Tea Party or Steve Bannon....or Donald Trump for that matter?

Seriously... that's the only explanation you can think of?

But again, let's say you're right about your silly comment.
Because you're upset that "Democrats have no ethics" you think Republicans shouldn't behave ethically and take their responsibilities seriously?

Why aren't you here applauding the appointment of a special counsel as an example of a Republican Justice Department showing us how it should be done instead of just complaining about how a Democrat Justice Department showed us how it shouldn't be done, as if that changes anything now?
Do you honestly think the White House is capable of investigating itself.....EVER?

If a partisan Congress won't do it, there is no other choice. We are just fortunate we still have a Justice Department with enough integrity to do the right thing.

"Look at the Washington Post,..."-johnforbes

Why should I look at the Washington Post? They have an opinion. So what?
The Washington Post can't appoint a special prosecutor.
If you don't like their opinion, stop reading the editorial page.
What has that got to do with whether Congress or the Justice Department should take their oversight responsibility seriously?
#87737
Dershowitz voted for Hillary, but says the special counsel is absurd and there's no underlying crime even alleged.
Told ya, there's nothing but smoke being blown to divert from investigations into real crime committed by Obama, Hillary and the DOJ.
#87743
What the Democrats have been doing, over the past 6 months, is simply trying to pretend the 2016 election did not occur.

They have fought with wild hatred, and with any lie they can think of, against Trump.

So, yeah, it probably is time for the Senate to go nuclear on every bill. This would help Dems the next time they gain power.

And it would recognize that there's really no point in trying to appease the partisan hatred of Dems.

Why should Sessions fret about ethics if Lynch didn't?
#87755
What the Republicans did, for eight years, was simply try to pretend the 2008 election did not occur.

They fought with wild hatred, and with any lie they can think of, against Obama. (Birthers, Obama a Muslim, selling out America with the nuclear deal that is so bad Trump had Tillerson tell everyone that it's working and he's not going to scrap it, etc., etc..)

So, yeah, it probably was time for the Senate to go nuclear on every bill, but they didn't. They showed more love of country than Repubs and it would have helped Repubs the next time they gained power.

And it would have recognized that there's really no point in trying to appease the partisan hatred of Repubs.

The difference here, johnny, is that my post is true. Yours is made up.
Right now all the Dems are doing is sitting back doing nothing to help Republicans and letting them implode and destroy themselves.
All you need to do is look at the threads started by Righties on this board. You will see that they are STILL consumed with hatred of Obama and Hillary when they aren't simply diverting from the Trump disaster with nonsense. They can't seem to come up with more than one or two threads about anything good concerning Trump.
