Political discussions about everything

Comey just testified the leaking of NSA reports of Russian communications that mentioned Trump campaign officials, including retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and possibly then-Sen. Jeff Sessions, and Trump attorney general were all serious felonies that carry a ten year prison sentence. When asked if the press could have received their names through any legal process he said only through a judge order and that didn't take place. Asked who would have access to the names of those listened to on a wire tap he said very few top people, since the names of US citizens are "masked" very few people can unmask their named, Susan Rice and Lynch were among those few who would have that access without going through a judge. Comey conformed a criminal investigation is ongoing and those who "touched" those secret documents are being looked at, he declined to say who they were. He also confirmed who ever leaked their names damaged the reputation of the intelligence committee and the trust citizens placed in them, therefore they are taking the leak very serious.

You can bet the Obama mafia has a pucker factor going on today as they listen to the testimony.

What I'd be interested in knowing is just what any president can affect.

If the leaked info is correct, Trump is right that he was surveilled, and the electronic looking was very extensive.

They looked at Trump in as many as 18 locations where he did business, and they surveilled many of his executives and they are named in the leak along with their addresses and phone numbers.

This began, apparently, in 2004 and the leaked database reportedly covers from then until 2010 -- in other words, the early years of Obama's tenure.

We know that, under Obama, Merkel was wiretapped, and so was Hollande in France, and Bibi in Israel, and Italian politicians, and even liberal Dennis Kucinich.

How much of that did Obama know about? Presumably all. But is any president in control of it or is this whole Orwellian spectacle just moving on its own?

No agents of any intelligence agency are going to stick their necks to do surveillance unless ordered...
Comey's statement that no President can order surveillance may be true, but that doesn't mean a President
can not inquire about what someone is doing... and his people will find out for him.. :o

The problem is that that apparently is not true.

NSA can collect every phone call, every email, every text, and all any sitting president need do is request a transcript of x phone call and it'll be provided to him.

I believe Comey went to law school, but it is a headscratcher what he was trying to say there.
