Gun sales surge among gays, lesbians after Orlando shooting. DENVER -- Gun sales are surging in the wake of Sunday’s deadly mass shooting in Orlando, Fla. The tragedy is generating new debate over gun control reform and the right to bear arms.

Gun shops typically see a spike in customers after mass shootings. But this time, many are seeing shoppers they’ve never really seen before: More gays and lesbians.

George Horne, the owner of The Gun Room, Denver’s oldest firearms dealer, said Tuesday business is booming at his store.

"For this time of year I’d say its three to four times what we normally have, AR15's are selling before we can get them out of the boxes." he said.

The Pink Pistols is a national gun club for gays and lesbians. It saw its membership soar from about 1,500 members on Saturday to 3,500 on Monday.

Dozens of new chapters are springing up, including one Smith is creating in Colorado Springs. He said it’s something he feels compelled to do, even though he’s heterosexual.

The killer was texting his GF during the massacre.

He was also on Facebook.

Too bad some of the fellows in the club didn't understand the concept from jiu-jitsu of closing the distance.

Agree 100%, talk about a soft target. The shooter would have gotten more resistance from a girl scout meeting.

Come on, Grog, surely you understand that, if you keep at x distance, the advantage is to a person with a gun.

Surely you understand that, if you get into a fight with a boxer or karate man, you will get knocked out unless you close the distance.

There were about 300 people in that club. One shooter, and we know he was texting.

Close the distance.

By the way, the cops have to revise procedure so as not to take 3 hours to finish too. Many surely bled to death.

Sounds like you've bought into the NRA fantasy of "Only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun."

That works in movies and fantasies. It don't work in reality.

But go ahead and send Wayne another $20 or whatever.

Forbestardo breaks barriers of idiocy with each post. Now the joker is now playing armchair swat team tactical leader.

The police are highly regimented in their training and their procedures and policies. They have very specific guidelines on how to deal with active shooter and hostage situations.

I hardly think a civilian with 0 police training would have been able to successfully neutralize a shooter with an assault rifle in a dimly lit club with hundreds of people...

Come on, Elkin, you are least informed person who posts here.

Yes, the cops have a hostage protocol and it was always controversial.

It calls for talking, extending the situation, and letting time help.

But, for people who have been shot, time is literally vital and surely many of those dead bled to death while the cops thought it was a hostage situation instead of a terrorist engaging in slaughter.

As to the principles of judo, they are ancient. Too bad Grog and Elkin are too uneducated to know them.

Dude, he was stopped by a good guy with a gun, are you saying the cop wasn't good, or that the shooter wasn't bad? You had 300 plus guys without guns who failed to stop him.

It took a moment to change magazines (dump ths spent mag and dig out a fresh one) and re-charge the weapon.
Providing you aren't badly shot, you wait for that moment and make your move. That or wait to die. Simple choice, except for liberal girly men...or Canadians. Same thing I suppose.

This shooting should put to rest the NRA idea of a "good guy with a gun."

The police shot at victims who were trying to escape from the nightclub in the darkness, chaos, and confusion and they most likely killed some, inadvertently.

Police are very highly trained individuals who are experts in dealing with these type of situations. If they can't figure out what's going on then certainly gun nuts will not be able to protect society from random killers.

It does nothing of the kind Elkindoofus. The only good guy with a gun was an off duty cop working security. The registered Democrat muzzie shooter killed him first. The bar was a gun free zone so the registered Democrat muzzie terrorist felt safe murdering all those people. Had there been a few armed citizens there the outcome may have been much different. The people who attacked the terrorists in that plane that crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11 proved what ordinary yet highly motivated people can accomplish. If they are not lilly livered girly men or Canadians.

this guy cased the club for weeks, maybe months.....
got to be a familiar face, a regular, so as not to arouse suspicion that last day...
had he spotted a few guns in there among the crowd at anytime in prior visits,
he would have left the club alone...and it's possible all those people would be alive today.....

Because nobody wants to get shot.

DUH...
We saw how that worked out ...DUH!

Remember the terrorist on the French train, no one did anything until the guy entered the car with the 3 U.S. military members, they didn't let his AK47 stop them, they rushed him and saved untold lives on that train. If just 10% of those 300 had rushed him that would have been 30 people coming at him from just feet or yards away, he "may" have got two or three (he didn't have an automatic weapon) but there is no way would he have been able to kill 49 and shoot 58 more. EVEN if had the time to squeeze off his entire clip of 20 rounds (no way if rushed) , they would have him then. The club was lacking people with balls that night, with that many people there, he had to be bumping into people as he shot others, like I said a group of girl scouts would have done better.

Holey shit...Justme you say some really stupid shit...but this one is a real gem!!!

So you're going to chastise victims for what you assume is cowardice. And I suppose that you could have rallied a bunch of strangers in a split second to charge a madman into certain death.

Nicely done!!!

The very action that prevented the last plane from crashing in DC rather than PA was "Let's roll."

That gay bar in FL was a gun-free zone, so it was necessary to close the distance with the killer.

Elkin and Clownhicker are spectacularly ignorant in not understanding this basic concept from judo.

For a karate man, or a man with a gun, distance helps him. You need to close the distance and neutralize.

So you're going to chastise victims for what you assume is cowardice.
Not chastising, not calling them cowards, just saying they allowed themselves to be easy prey by not protecting themselves. The guy had to reload several times, he made 13 telephone calls and posted to facebook but yet no one moved on him, 300 against one. The guy at the entrance didn't have a chance, but everyone else that he had to bump into did. Cowardice is your explanation, I'm just saying they "allowed" themselves to be victims. Now that ISIS knows, gays don't even try and fight back, their gatherings will probably be soft target #1.

The shooter apparently was considering Disney World or the gay club and determined the gay club was the softer target...and he was right.

Are you and Johnnie Dumbtardo competing for village idiot of the week?

The Police SWAT Team showed up and waited for like 3 hours to figure out what was going on and what to do.

The SWAT team consists of highly trained individuals who are masters at their craft. If they thought it was to dangerous to go in, then what would make you think a bunch of untrained civilians would have known any better?

The SWAT team commander could have ordered his officers to "bum rush" the shooter. But they chose not to...I wonder why?

The cops used a hostage protocol on a terrorist.

Bad idea, and how many bled to death over the hours they waited for help?

As to not understanding the concept of closing the distance, it merely shows the stunning ignorance of Grog and Elkin.

If just a few of those sad souls in Florida had understood the concept, a whole lot more of them might be alive now.

Again, Grog, you show your ignorance.

The power of judo is not in that.

But, really, you are happy that those poor people in Florida were slaughtered?

I think it was a shame, and closing the distance is a very basic concept that could have helped save lives.

So what civilians were waiting outside to go in? I'm talking about the people inside the club getting shot, one by one and doing nothing. I'd bet you anything if the SWAT was in the building get shot one by one, they wouldn't have waited for 3 hours to do something. That a libtard doesn't understand the difference is of no surprise.

Cops are, relatively speaking, rather untrained compared with military people who do assaults, and practice assaults, on a rather constant basis.

A SWAT incident is not a daily event.

In WW II, the average infantryman had 40 days of combat per year. By Vietnam, the average was many multiples of that because of chopper mobility.

All that aside, there were a number of police experts on CNN noting that the hostage protocol had been controversial for many decades and had been wrongly applied in Orlando.

A terrorist doesn't want to talk with a hostage negotiator.

The terrorist wants to kill more and let the ones he shot bleed to death (which happened over 3 hours in FL).

You have to factor in a few things, this was Orlando where 70% of those hired onto the police department in the last 5 years have been affirmative action hires. Weight/physical standards and background expectations lowered to find the minorities and females they wanted. Add to that it was 2am, I'm amazed it only took them 3 hours to round up enough sober and qualified members to finally form a SWAT that could do something. Remember those first responders are the people libtards wanted to be police officers, libtards got what they pushed for. Don't blame those whose were called at 2am while in bed and off duty, and told to get out of bed to help out because the ones on duty weren't qualified to handle the situation. It takes time to gather up all your gear and get to the scene, THEN come up with a plan.

Bottom line, the 300 plus people in the building should have taken measures to defend themselves against the single person, I'm betting many of them pushed for the affirmative action hiring in the PD, putting PC or abilities to handle situations just like this one.

See? The boy cannot even read....hey doofus...I WAS THE ONE THAT USED THE TERM "Bum RUSH".

What a buffoon.

But I stray from the real point of my post.

Obama sold another gun yesterday. I went out and bought an AR-15. Thanks to Obama and his perfect sales pitch, another gun sold.
Guess what fucktards? The gun will not kill anyone, unless they are threatening my life. The gun will be kept in a safe place. The gun will be handled responsibly, and I will train and practice with it at a licensed gun range.
And, if a war breaks out between the populace of the US, and our wonderful government, well hell,
I will be Sgt. York!!!!

I asked the gun sales guy why these guns are literally flying off the shelf. He hemmed and hawed, did not really give a definitive answer.
Then I told him exactly WHY I bought it. Obama's policies (planned policies, too), AND here is the big one!!!
I bought it just to give a hearty FUCK YOU to the anti-gun crowd.

SO, ELK.....GROG....CLOWN-MOID...I bought a gun and FUCK YOU!!!

Elkin, I don't play video games.

But seriously, Elkin, you should repair your ignorance of basic martial arts.

I know you have no military experience, but if you get in a fight with a boxer should you let him hit you or seek to stifle his best capability?

People are dead because they didn't understand this basic principle.

Surely Elkin isn't too dumb to understand this?

No Elk....they had 3 hours! And if one goes they all go! Now they are dead.....and the rest

are hugging each other and saying how they are all family...and buying guns!

I don't want to let this thread end before making Elkin and Grog understand the basic point.

If they get in a fight with a boxer, and they let the boxer function to his best advantage by keeping a certain distance, then they will get knocked out.

If you don't close the distance with a shooter, and instead just give him time to use the weapon and reload and log on to Facebook and tap out text messages (all were done in Florida), then you will be a crime victim.

In a fight, you must try to neutralize the advantage the other person has over you.

In Florida, the 300 guys in the bar had the advantage of numerical strength. Had they understood the crucial need to close the distance, there wouldn't be so many dead.

This is basic martial arts truth, and it applies in the military too.

The conservatards are battling for village idiot of the year in this post. Not to mention arm chair quarterback of the year.

These numskulls, behind the safety of their computer screen, are proponents of the Ben Carson bum rush the armed gunman theory.

Did any of you assholes actually bother to figure out the underlying reason why this individual targeted this bar, other than the fact that it's a gay bar?

1. There's a lot of people there, supposedly 300.

2. The nightclub security didn't search people as they entered. Here in NYC every single titty bar and night club will put you through a metal detector and security will do a quick patdown

3. Nightclubs tend to be relatively dimly lit. So if someone starts shooting it will be difficult to see who was doing it.

4. Nightclubs are loud, they have blaring music, so it's hard to hear where the shots were coming from.

5. Booze and drugs, people won't have the situational awareness to react fast enough to mount an attack on a gunman.

Therefore by the time people figured out what was actually going on it was pretty much all over.

“Why don’t Americans know to swarm the shooter?” This tactic is well known in Israel (they learned the hard way) and was used successfully enough to change the preferred tactic used by these murderers from ‘active shooter’ to ‘suicide bomber.’ Which shows that shutting down one avenue to a killer will not stop violence completely but we can shut down this particular tactic’s success rate by swarming an active shooter.)

Sounds great, right? So why won’t we?

Liability. It’s probably cheaper to tell you to run and hide as an individual than it is to tell you to swarm the shooter as a group.

If you run, hide and get shot to death alone, well, it’s the shooter’s fault.

If you take direct action and get shot to death, every lawyer in a three-state radius pricks up their ears.

Simple fear. Completely natural and understandable. No one wants to get shot to death. There’s a million years of evolutionary pressure that has to be overcome in order to act instead of react. But this is where training comes in—you replace fear with knowledge and practice. Resolve yourself to a course of action, get physical training, and then practice for the results you want.

In a perfect world we would decide, as a society, that we’ve had enough and tell everyone to swarm an active shooter, then practice doing so at home, at school, at the workplace until everyone knew that the only person who would be alone in that situation would be the shooter himself.

Unfortunately, in our imperfect world only one person will learn anything at all from the latest horror—the next shooter. And he will find himself with an unrestricted field of fire in a target-rich environment where his madness is free to feed, unopposed.

Is bum rushing an armed gunman a law enforcement technique?

Do they teach it in the police academy or is it a SWAT Team tactic?

I suppose that you will argue more guns make us more safer. Even though statistics prove otherwise.
