Clown has called me gay on numerous occasions but I've done nothing to earn that title, sadly I'm just a simple straight dude with insecurities that gay men are free of. The fact of his living in denial is not a slur. It's merely an observation.
It would only be a slur to call someone gay if they are insulted by it, and the only people who are insulted by being called something perfectly normal and natural are the homophobes who get upset about it.
