WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., may have the last laugh when it comes to the debate about "New York values" ignited by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
Schumer was quick to note Friday that his staff remained at work in his Washington, D.C., office, while his Republican colleague from Texas and his staff were nowhere to be seen.
The door to Cruz's office on Capitol Hill was locked this morning, with no evidence anyone had shown up to work. His office phones had been switched over to a voicemail menu.
When asked whether his office would stay open as the Blizzard of 2016 approached Friday afternoon, Schumer said, "Hard work is a New York value. Of course we are open."
With no votes scheduled Friday, Schumer worked out of his New York City office, as he often does on Fridays. His full staff also showed up to work at his main office in Washington, D.C.
