Student arrested; officer on administrative duties

At least two videos shot by students show the dramatic scene Monday inside a math classroom at Spring Valley High School. None show much of what happened before it, however.

According to Lt. Curtis Wilson, a spokesman for the Richland County Sheriff's Department, the instructor had asked the student "to leave the class several times."

"The assistant principal was there as well," Wilson said. "Then the officer was called to actually have the student removed from that location. The student refused."

The student -- who was released to her parents after the incident -- faces a charge of disturbing schools, according to Wilson. Another female student, Niya Kenny, faces the same charge after allegedly standing up for the other teenager, her mother, Doris Ballard, told CNN.

Wilson said that as of Monday there were no reports of any injuries. But the teenage student pulled from the desk told Kenny she had a fractured arm and cuts on her face, said Ballard, who heard the story from her daughter.

The FBI and area U.S. Attorney's Office have opened a civil rights investigation to determine whether federal laws were violated during the student's arrest, a Justice Department spokesperson said.

Sheriff Leon Lott said the FBI will be the lead agency in a criminal investigation.

"We do not want any issues with the community or those involved having questions concerning conflicts of interest in this investigation," he said.

The officer involved is white; the student is black.

"We're deeply concerned, particularly with the assault of the student," said Lonnie Randolph Jr., president of the South Carolina NAACP. "It was not the right way to respond."

For now, Fields is on administrative duties and won't return to his customary assignment at Spring Valley High. His boss, Lott, is determined to get to the bottom of what happened.

"He was disturbed by what he saw, (and) he has questions just like everybody else does," Wilson said of Lott. "And he wants answers to those questions."

What ever happened to students not acting like savages?

Figures that the federal law "enforcement" authorities would get involved if -- and only if -- the student happened to be black and the teacher happened to be white.

Naturally, the assumption is that the kid was an innocent lamb like all the others speaking in cursewords and listening to rap.

Meaning what? That the teacher and the assistant principle should not have called the cop?

Obviously they called him because they couldn't handle it themselves," in a nice gentle way."

An the kid that took the video should have given it to authorities...not posted in the media.

silly, nobody has criticized the teacher or the principle for their handling of this situation.

The criticism is of the officer for not following procedure.
You may be surprised to learn that in some jurisdictions people frown on cops throwing children across the room.
I know that sounds crazy to you, but the rules are the rules.

Listening to all the talk shows and news reports its clear that the leftist talking points memo that went out to all the Useful Idiots included instructions to advance the incorrect idea that the student was, "Thrown across the room." Nothing of the sort took place, but by now all the low information fools believe it.

Insipid, the kid was dragged/tossed forcefully about 12 to 15 feet in the video.
If you would actually watch it you would see for yourself.

Just how big do you think a classroom is?
He started about five feet from one wall and stopped almost against the opposite wall.

But I noticed you couldn't dispute the fact the officer did not use standard procedure.
Apparently the reactionary talking points memo went out to tell numb nuts like you to nit-pick terminology as a distraction from the officers failure to follow procedure.
By now all the low intelligence fools think that's enough to excuse his behavior.

Agree he should have just tazed him then there would be no wrestling the punk and less chance of anyone getting hurt. It always looks bad when a cop has to touch someone.

On one point, we must all yield to Clowntoker's experience.

It is absolutely true that Clownhicker spent 10 years in elementary school.

It was all worth it, though, because at the end Clownhacker was able to brandish his 6th grade graduation certificate.

A proud moment for him, and all his fellow residents of Swamp Hollow.

It's completely absurd to arrest a student for "disrupting school." And for a cop to toss around an innocent child for talking on a cell phone is completely outrageous. Teenagers are by nature rebellious and misbehave on occasion.

Why did the school administration send the police to deal with the situation? That makes no sense. It wasn't a police matter. It's a situation where the teacher sends the kid to detention or suspends the student...

CBS News just reported that the teacher and school administration stand by the cop and have no

criticism as how the cop handled it.

The Police chief will not stand by his cops......

when asked how the cop should have handled it......he says he only knows how he shouldn't have handled it.
when asked if the cop should have been called at all....he says he will let the investigation show that...

Police chief is wuss. He's worries only about his own job.

There is a big difference between being dragged and being thrown. All the professional victim blacks I heard today called it being, "slung" across the room. It wasn't that either. And I never intended to argue police procedure so your little victory dance is a fail there too.

And yes, the bitch should have been pepper sprayed.

The school administration did not call the cop so he would duplicate their "Pretty Please leave the room" procedure...

And the Police chief who fired the cop doesn't know that the procedure should have been.

I say the cop should have received a reprimand and all cops in that PD should undergo training

on the handling of minors in school.

And the kids that took the videos and posted them worldwide instead of turning over first....should be suspended

minimum of three days.

Insipid goes so far as to return to admit I was right about him, and still pretends he's right and I'm wrong somehow.
He's nit-picking terminology because he can't refute the officer's behavior.

By the way, "slung" is a perfect word to describe what we see on the video.
The kid is partly lifted off the floor and accelerated, so "dragged" isn't strong enough.
I'll go with "slung". Thanks, Pinky Boy.

Fail.

And by the way, what your white trash, grits chomping, corn pone smacking, white lightning guzzling KKK member ancestors did to blacks would make most of them accept a simple slinging gladly.

Now, don't that jist dog your cats?
Y'all don't come back now, heah?

sillydaddy wrote:See Clown...even Elk is critical of the teacher and school administration.....

The school administrations should have called the parents not the cop.
There's plenty of blame to go around. But the cop really fucked it up. Manhandling a young girl is completely outrageous and reeks of police brutality. If you listen to the audio in the video, the cop says..."Are you going to come with me" when first confronting the child. That's a huge mistake. The cop is the authority figure. He doesn't ask or request, he has to order the child to move.

The guy first asks then goes apeshit bananas...weird shit...

This is how fucked up Pinky Boy Insipid is.
I tell him my uncle married a Mexican Indian and he characterizes my family as KKK member's.
Talk about yer "fail".

Dumbfuck, plainly my family were the ones telling your white trash, grits chomping, corn pone smacking, white lightning guzzling KKK member illiterate racist ancestors to go fuck themselves, we'll marry whom we like.

But I've let you make a big enough ass of yourself.
Now you can have your nose rubbed in it by learning that it was the Sheriff himself, not any leftist talking point memo, that characterized the deputy's actions as "throwing".
In his public statement to the media he said it twice. Reputable news sources would report it that way.
Your news sources didn't.

And what makes it "throwing" is the fact that the deputy lifted, accelerated the student and then let go.
That isn't how you "drag" something. When you're dragging something you don't let go. Once you let go you're not "dragging" any longer.
This also makes it a police no-no. Letting go constitutes "losing control" of the person you're trying to apprehend. Competent police never want to do that.

So now, AssClown Loser Insipid, I command you to return and pretend I'm wrong while you are agreeing with me some more.
And let's see it in the form of another spittle-spewing, impotent Pinky Boy igno-rant.

Maybe Clownkicker will come back and admonish Elklindo for starting a race baiting thread? I doubt it.

Elklindo you seem to play fast and loose with facts. The child was disruptive. The child was told to stop. Then the child was asked to leave. The child refused. The teacher called the administrators who sent the officer. The officer asked the child to cooperate. The child refused and PUNCHED the cop several times. The students are now supporting the cop. Im a straight 'hood half nigger and that little rat got just what she deserved.

Shut your cracker ass up you little Jew boy bitch.

Benny, why would I care what kind of thread someone starts?
However, this isn't a race baiting thread anyway, it's a police abuse thread, so your comment is irrelevant.
Nobody here has suggested anything about the kid's race or the officer's race as a factor in this story.
But if you want to start a race baiting thread, knock yourself out.

I don't admonish anyone for the type of threads they start, other than the childish and embarrassingly unfunny personal attack threads started by the the board dimwit johnforbes which simply garbage up the board and demonstrate the intellectual impotence of their author.
What I admonish people for is ignorance and lies when they start a thread. You can't just make up stupid shit.
Otherwise, people may talk about anything they wish.

If anything, I fault elklindo for not including any real commentary on the article he posted. He mostly just copy-and-pasted an article, the way RealTool frequently does without any commentary at all and without making any point.
But elklindo made a small comment and made an inarticulate point, so I let it go.

Neither I, nor any staff member, faulted Clownhicker for his failure to post matters of substance.

Given Clownhacker's limited formal education, and diminished level of cognitive function, no rational person could expect much of him.

Beyond such limits, Clownsissy is further impaired by being soaked in leftist ideology.

So why is the NAACP involved and DOJ's Civil Rights Division investigating the incident? It would never hit anything beyond the local news had the student been white or the police officer black. This is all about race and liberals hate toward white police officers.

The sheriff fired the deputy for using excessive force........yet the sheriff can not say how the deputy

should have handled it.

The Doj is going to investigate civil rights violations.....because they can't get involved unless it

can shown there was a federal crime.

If the DoJ pursues this ...they will have to interrogate the rest of the students(minors) in the class.

Will the parents allow this...because they may need lawyers if their children are subpoenaed (lots of money).

A good lawyer for the cop can have the videos thrown out.....tainted evidence(videos handled by YouTube, etc.)

I say the DoJ will drop it..

"So why is the NAACP involved and DOJ's Civil Rights Division investigating the incident?"-RealTool

I would think the NAACP is involved because they are "deeply concerned, particularly with the assault of the student" and the "FBI and area U.S. Attorney's Office have opened a civil rights investigation to determine whether federal laws were violated during the student's arrest..."
Don't you read the articles people post?

That doesn't make it a race baiting thread.
Civil rights apply to everyone, Tool, and no mention was made of civil rights violations due to race.

Now YOU, on the other hand, seem determined to turn it into a race baiting thread by trying to turn a civil rights issue about police behavior into a racial issue.
But you can't blame elklindo for your dishonest weasel tactics.
