Political discussions about everything

I personally don't agree with McCain's politics, but it was pretty absurd to claim that McCain was not a distinguished war veteran.

And it's a bit ironic and hypocritical for the birther in chief to demand documents from Obama while directing the media to search for his medical records. So he doesn't remember which foot???

Donald Trump might finally have crossed the line.

Appearing on Saturday at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, the real estate mogul took his running feud with Arizona Sen. John McCain to a new level.

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

The remarks, which came after days of back-and-forth between McCain and Trump, were met with scattered boos.
McCain, a former Navy pilot, spent roughly five-and-half years in a notorious North Vietnamese prison known as the “Hanoi Hilton,” where he was repeatedly tortured. He spent two of those years in solitary confinement.

At a press availability following his remarks, Trump denied saying that McCain isn’t a war hero and said, “If somebody’s a prisoner, I consider them a war hero.”

He also continued his attacks on the Arizona senator, saying, “I think John McCain’s done very little for the veterans. I’m very disappointed in John McCain.”

Trump received four student deferments from military service between 1964 and 1968. In Ames, he told reporters another medical deferment he received after graduating was for a bone spur in his foot. When asked which foot, Trump told reporters to look up the records.

I agree Trump should not have gotten into that much of an argument with McCain, particularly if he got medical deferments himself.

However, McCain has been getting by for many years doing nothing for veterans or against illegal immigrants.

And it is stupendously arrogant for McCain to think he can dictate who is a "crazy" and who isn't.

McCain is only happy when on another junket to the Middle East with Lindsey Graham to meditate about foreign policy while America loses greatness back home.

McCain's service to our country should be respected, as is his refusal to be released early from the NV prison camp just because he was the son and grandson of Navy Admirals. This is deserving of not only respect but is in fact heroic.

Beyond that, getting shot down, captured and imprisoned was just bad luck. There were many just like he who were tortured and dealt with years of inhumane treatment. His service as a United States Senator though has many flaws and is deserving of criticism. Trump was just being too stark and realistic, which is fine as the CEO of a large business empire, but never works well in the political arena. Here Trump revealed his political naivety.

If stepping on this landmine is what ends his presidential ambitions remains to be seen. No doubt the left is turning cartwheels, but most sensible people never thought he had much of a chance in the first place.Outside of this incident he is just saying things that need to be said, but nobody else has the courage to say.

most sensible, indeed. Most of the others are sadly lacking in intelligence. Does being a right winger cause loss of intellect, or is it just the right wingness attracts the brain-dead?

Clown I and many others have said from the very beginning Trump isn't in this to become President, he's a billionaire who wants a stage to express his views and wake Americans up. Even you have to admit he is forcing other Republicans to talk about immigration and other conservative issues and tell us where they stand on them.

Concerning his statement on McCain, it was McCain who first came out attacking Trump as an idiot and pounding his statements about immigrants as being stupid over and over in the media. Trump isn't one to back down from attackers. I disagree with how he worded it but McCain is no more a hero than any other veteran who has honorably served. McCain claims his captures wanted to release him but he refused and chose to stay but you have to consider, Kerry also put himself in for a purple heart for a splinter in his finger. Also McCain's father was an Admiral who want his son's records to reflect he "chose" to stay a prisoner. McCain isn't used to someone like Trump who doesn't give a shit about being PC, I did noticed that McCain has backed off of his media appearances attacking Trump since Trump called him out.

Trump knows he won't be President but he's talking about issues in straight up term others are to chicken shit to talk about without being OC. I like it when the media ask the others running, Trump said "...." what do you feel about that?

McCain has labeled Trump supporters as , "crazies". He was very vocal about Trump visiting AZ.

But what Trump said was directed only at McCain, and in a way only Trump knew it would sting McCain.

And here again there is truth in what Trump said.....McCain's military record doesn't matter.

In 2008 McCain put his political experience and his military record up against Obama, and asked

America to choose between the two.

The majority of Americans picked Obama, a rookie senator who had never served a single day in the military,

and told McCain to go fuck himself.

Trump has spoken...they were just words.....now get over it.

When push comes to shove...,,,the American voter doesn't care about military records.

Perhaps it is his business background, but Trump has a way to getting to the heart of an issue.

He could have phrased his true remarks about Mexican illegal immigrants better too, but Obama has said thousands of things which were either wrong or poorly phrased.

McCain had his chance at the presidency, but he lacked the energy or the will to really fight and win.

Perhaps this was in part because of his ordeal as a POW or perhaps he simply never realized that the end of a sports contest is when you have to dig down and really try to win.

Either way, it was astoundingly arrogant for McCain to think that Trump suggesting millions of illegals are bad for America was somehow "crazy."

It isn't; it's the simple truth.

As for this derailing Trump's campaign, look at Clinton with all his bimbo eruptions and Hillary ridiculing Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man" or Obama mocking those who "cling to guns and religion."

Trump is beginning to win the Latinos. And regardless of what happens he will be the candidate who breaks the Republican party. Which has been a long time coming. He is speaking the truth and corporate politician puppets are running for cover. I don't think he will disappear from politic$ but what he has said will be talked about for a long time. That is what they are really afraid of. This show isn't over yet.

Agree. I hope Trump doubles down and really throws the establishment Republicans into a tailspin. A good, cold dose of Painful Truth is what this party needs. It's time the old bulls were put out to pasture.

Two thumbs up! The last time a real Republican called it like it is was Wilson when he told Obama to his face "YOU LIE"

Trump is forcing Republicans to declare who they are.

What Trump should do is apologize to McCain for attempting to parse his military record.

At the same time, Trump should demand that McCain apologize for his arrogant remarks about Trump.

I'm actually more concerned with McCain's remark calling those who feel illegals are a problem "crazies" than Trump questioning McCain's hero status for just being captured while serving in the military. McCain knows his statement was false, it was nothing but a PC attempt to kiss Hispanics' and libtards' asses. McCain tried to appease the left with a lie and insult to conservatives and in return got bitch slapped by Trump.
By johnforbes
#60783
McCain himself said he was not a "hero" (whatever that term means anyhow).

McCain was also dishonest in saying it was a "term of endearment" to call Trump's support "crazies."

Come on, McCain admitted he was a lousy student at the Naval Academy and he was flying probably in part due to daddy the admiral.

I'd hate to be a POW for 5 minutes not to mention 5 years, so I respect what he went through, but that doesn't give him a license long after he failed to gain the presidency to trash other Repubs with different ideas.

Trump is the only candidate so far with any guts on illegal immigration control.

I wouldn't vote for Trump because he does have a problem appropriately wording his thoughts, but I'd sure have beer with him, the dude tells it like it is and it's clear he loves America, many of the other runners are pretenders. I just hope some of them pay attention to how dropping the PC shit and calling a spade a spade actually have the majority of Americans liking what Trump has to say. Their numbers would rise if they followed his lead. Trump would actually have good chance of winning this election if watched his wording and gave his answers a little more thought prior to blurting them out.
By johnforbes
#60787
Exactly.

Trump himself may have been shocked at how well he has been doing in the polls.

His initial intent may just have been to declare his candidacy for a month or so, have some fun, and split.

Trump is correct on illegal immigration, and he is also correct that voters are sick and tired of "corporate" Repubs like McCain and Jeb.

Businessman Donald Trump surged into the lead for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, with almost twice the support of his closest rival, just as he ignited a new controversy after making disparaging remarks about Sen. John McCain’s Vietnam War service, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Trump was the favorite of 24 percent of registered Republicans and Republican-leaning independents. That is the highest percentage and biggest lead recorded by any GOP candidate this year in Post-ABC News polls and marks a sixfold increase in his support since late May, shortly before he formally joined the race.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who announced his candidacy a week ago, is in second place, at 13 percent, followed by former Florida governor Jeb Bush, at 12 percent. Walker’s support is strongest among those who describe themselves as “very conservative.”
The other GOP runners should get the hint and follow Trump's lead of calling spades, spades...if they want to beat Hillary.

Trump's flip remark about getting captured was directly like the Chris Rock comedy routine from 2008.

Also, Trump called McCain a "war hero" four times after his flip remark, and he repeated today that.

When did McCain apologize for calling those who support Trump "crazies"?

What gives McCain the right to define who should support a candidate?

"What gives McCain the right to define who should support a candidate?"-johnforbes

Funny---that's the same question johnforbes asks the doctors at the "retirement home" where his family has had him committed. "What gives those people in the white coats the right to decide I'm crazy?"
The answer is: years of training and personal experience with crazies.

johnny, no serious, intelligent human being supports Trump for President. He's pretty much nuts.
I'm not saying there's necessarily anything wrong with being nuts. Lot's of nuts do quite well for themselves.
But that assessment has nothing to do with his comments of the past few days.

He's been on TV for years--decades. He's been bankrupt because of his arrogance and recklessness. (What you call "courage" and "daring".) He's abusive towards people. He believes the rules don't apply to him and he's a loose cannon with a big mouth. He's vindictive and I wouldn't ever entrust "The Nuclear Button" or an army to someone like him. We already know what he's like over the long haul.
His megalomania makes him unfit to be President, no matter how smart you may think he is or what policies he may espouse.
Yes, anyone supporting him for real may be fairly characterized by the term "crazies" if they can't see he would be a disaster as President. And I didn't need McCain to tell me that. And you already know it's true.

Insipid and johnforbes are proud to support a plutocracy form of government, apparently.
They both are here arguing that Trump being rich qualifies him to be head of state.

But if being rich qualifies someone to be head of state in your world, shouldn't going bankrupt disqualify them?
Unlike Trump, I've never been bankrupt. So who is the more fiscally responsible?

And InStupid, someone can't "stay down" when they haven't been down in the first place. Lucky isn't even here to be argued with.
Neither of you Bozos has been able to refute a thing I said, as always. You simply declare victory and ignore the unpleasant truth.

Jesus H. Chrisis Tool, learn to type stuff into google, fer cripes sake.

Trump's businesses have filed for bankruptcy 11 times. Among these are:
1991-Taj Mahal filed for bankruptcy.
1992- Trump Plaza Hotel filed for bankruptcy
2004- Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts filed for bankruptcy
2009- Trump Entertainment Resorts filed for bankruptcy

Trump is clearly incompetent at running many businesses as much as he is apparently successful at running some others. He makes money by overextending himself and overplaying his hand repeatedly. Then when he gets lucky you laud him.
Others eat the losses for his incompetence.
And he would do the same thing to our country. But you don't care.

Dimwit, that's addressing Insipid's admission of being a moron.
What's the matter with you? Couldn't you read his name on it?

As to the rest of your idiocy, if you asked Trump if those companies were "his", what do you think the answer would be?
Of course they're "his" and he ran them into the ground 11 times.

Your hypocrisy is even worse because you're one of those morons who insist corporations are just "people".
Well what "people" owned The Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza Hotel, Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, and Trump Entertainment Resorts? If they went bankrupt, some "people" must have gone bankrupt, right? And they are only separated from Trump by legalities that allow him to screw over investors dumb enough to give him their money.

But that's going to be your defense of Trump in this? That HE didn't personally go bankrupt? It was just 11 of his companies that he ran into the ground went bankrupt while he walked away unscathed? Yeah, let's get HIM to be President!     You need five emoticons to rival Insipid's stupidity.
