johnforbes was one of those who argued that there was no inherent right for blacks to marry whites and that Jefferson, Madison, et al. hardly contemplated a mixing of the races.

Unfortunately, the right for gays to marry IS in the Constitution since 1868; Fourteenth Amendment-equal protection under the law.
Gays have the same civil rights as anyone else.
It was only when reactionary bigots realized that marriage was never defined as being between one man and one woman that they scrambled to enshrine their bigotry and shut out gays by rewriting the law to define it that way.
What is really tragic is that since now gays can marry, all those fragile straight marriages like johnny's are going to fall apart due to the damage gay marriage will do to the institution. :lol:

And it IS an inherent right to be a gay dwarf, johnny.
Gay dwarfs are people and citizens too. You can't simply decide they are sub-human just because you are.

Whoever said the confederate flag will be banned? I don't think it shouldn't be banned and even if it were then it couldn't survive a court challenge. If a bunch of cranky white dudes with white hoods on want to pose with the confederate flag, that's their business. And then I can point out to my kids...those people with the burning crosses, white hoods, and confederate flags are assholes...
