This article hits on something that I have been preaching for years; everyone cannot be an astrophysicist. Excellent wages and a lifetime of job satisfaction, with job security being a side benefit, can be had in many skilled trades. There is a perception among many that if you don't go to college you will never amount to anything. This from the article:
Please note: Welding and wiring are used as examples; there are many skilled and semi-skilled trades that offer excellent wages and job satisfaction.
“Younger people are highly skilled in some areas – computer science, coding, technical skills – but deficient in practical, blue-collar skills such as welding or wiring,” he continued. “Right now in our economy, we have a glut of workers for management, liberal arts and computer skills but a shortage of workers for practical skills. Public schools and universities have not kept up when it comes to preparing students for a realistic place in the workforce. They’re not looking at supply and demand. There’s either a huge surplus or a huge shortage.”http://www.wnd.com/2015/04/americas-job ... 71rL0Ay.03" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
