WASHINGTON — The FBI has begun interviewing people close to disgraced Rep. Aaron Schock, the Illinois Republican who is resigning amid allegations of improper spending from his office and campaign accounts.

A source familiar with the probe says federal investigators are looking into the Illinois Republican's use of official and campaign resources. The source, who was not authorized to comment publicly on the matter, said a grand jury is expected to convene in Illinois in early April to review the case.

A federal law enforcement official said Friday that investigators had been monitoring the allegations involving Schock, outlined in a series recent news reports. The official, who is not authorized to discuss the matter, said authorities are in the beginning stages of a review and have not drawn any final conclusions about the case.

Schock, a once-rising Republican Party star, said Tuesday he will step down effective March 31 because of the "constant questions" stemming from news reports about his use of taxpayer and campaign funds.

What's really telling is that the DOJ and the media are all over him and even conservatives are saying he needs to face the consequences and it's still not known if he has committed any crimes. Yet, Hillary Clinton has admitted to several more serious crimes in her actions as Secretary of State but yet there isn't even an investigation and liberals are falling all over themselves trying to protect her. I say nail them both, but if Hillary is given a pass for her crimes, no one should be prosecuted or pursued for any felony crimes equal or less than hers.

If a person runs for office, gains public trust, then betrays it, then I'm out of sympathy for that person.

By the same token, DoJ under Holder became a selective, race-baiting entity which would not enforce the law equally.

Obviously, any Secretary of State uses classified material every day, and in almost every federal email, yet Hillary's server (if not already destroyed) has not even today been seized by the FBI.

The GOP turns a blind eye to an individual who falsified expense reports or did not submit them in the first place. Then he goes and pays the money after he got busted. That's like robbing a bank and handing the money back to the tellers after watching your face appear on the nightly news. So where were the investigations? Where's the GOP outrage? Where's the GOP leadership? How come the GOP is not taking a lead in the investigation? So the GOP takes a back seat to the FBI?

If you had ever worked for the federal government, you would know how crazy and impossible it is to try to conduct serious business on a private, insecure email system -- how quickly that would be flagged by info tech security.
