Political discussions about everything

"There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God's name on one's behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both. I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.' Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of 'conservatism.' "

(1909-1998) US Senator (R-Arizona) Source: Congressional Record, September 16, 1981
Wise words indeed! When people bring up some of their faith based ideas, stating that it should be law, I often ask them if they would feel the same if Islam was the major religion of the Congress and Senate.

The parade of geological changes and extreme weather events around the world since 2011 has been stunning. Perhaps that’s part of why, as the Public Religion Research Institute reported on Friday, “The number of Americans who believe
that natural disasters are evidence of the apocalypse has increased somewhat over the past couple years.”

I noticed that I spelled Religion wrong. Sorry. I just washed my hands and can't do anything with them.

Such a boring topic for the holiday season. Snake is feeling oppressed by the religious folks, and the religious folks are feeling the need to say Merry Christmas to errybody. Nothing changes and the world keeps turning.

Blah blah.

Brandon-As an atheist, it boggles my mind that anyone can believe that an invisible man in the sky determines our destiny. Recent discoveries have shown that we are all "stardust." The building blocks of life were deposited on earth by asteroids as the earth was forming. In the great extinctions the only animals that survived were the underground dwellers (rats, moles, voles, etc.) So, after millions of years of evolution (the world is NOT 6000 years old,) we have evolved to the species known as humans. Of the many gods that have been worshiped by man, which one was the right one? Did you know that the first time Jesus was called a god was in a Greek writting about 175 A.D. The writter took Jesus' statement that he was The Son of God and extrapolated it into Jesus being a god.

You are right in one thing, religion does facinate me. I studied it in college (not my major) and I continue to study it. If religion is so great and good, how come more people have been killed in the name of a god than through all other causes? There's an old saying in construction, "When you do business with a "born again" Christian, get your money up front."

Sure.
Every December 25th many celebrate the birth of the great savior and benefactor of mankind: Sir Isaac Newton.
Others celebrate the original holiday that Christians have tried to steal from non-Christians: Winter Solstice.

December 25th has nothing to do with Jesus.
Jesus was born in the summer, not the winter.
We know this from the nativity story in the Bible.
When Christians couldn't get non-Christians to give up their ages-old holy days, they said, "Well, if you can't beat them, join them." and then usurped the Winter solstice for their own with a lie, in contradiction of their own "word of God" book.
Same with Easter, actually the stolen vernal equinox. When Christians couldn't get non-Christians to give up their beloved Spring equinox treats, they stole them by forcing pagans to put crosses on their traditional sweet rolls, which became the "hot cross buns" we have today.

Christians have been lying thieves from day one.
Nothing is beneath them.

That's why I drive a truck with a V8 and support drilling for more oil along with coal and nuclear energy and ignore global warming religious fanatics. More politicians should also ignore them and get this country back on track.

Ok fine. But realize your bigotry is showing. You are convoluting and exaggerating present day mainstream Christian beliefs with those of Islamic extremists. Not all Muslims are bloodthirsty extremists dedicated to world domination. Same for Christians, or you wouldn't be here on the porn site bashing them. If you seriously want to argue your "atheism" you need to step up your game. Your "opinion", valid or not, is a conscious decision full of presuppositions and ignorant exclusions, which, reflective of your intelligence and ignorance, you claim to have all of the answers for. Which makes you a hater.

Think way back Snake. I would seriously bet that at some point in your or your parent's life, you were the recipient of some charity from some of the "oppressive" "hateful" people you feel the need to mock this time of the year. If I were face to face with you right now I would be considering if I should break your jaw.

Merry Christmas motherfucker.

How hateful, Young Brandon! Especially in the x-mas season!

Threatening to break someone's jaw!

No Hot Wheels for you this year (especially that '78 Trans Am you begged Santa for)! You'll be lucky to get a lump of coal inside one of Forbes' used mini-condoms!
