One case of Ebola and they weren't ready. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's primary job is to respond to exactly what happened in Texas with an over whelming response including full medical teams with mobile labs to treat the person infected, but yet all they did was fly in a few bureaucrats to watch the local hospital deal with the crisis. So why does the CDC have 70 $5 million dollar treatment RV's with staffing funded for 24/7 deployments? Why couldn't they have treated this one case of Ebola? I'll tell you why, they are your typical overstaffed ineffective government agency with thousands of doctors getting paid to attend conferences around the world and just be on the payroll to justify more leadership positions, they've built an empire but can't handle a real mission.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention need to change it's name to the Centers for Disease Observation.

Let them earn their pay, send 4,000 of the 15,000 CDC employees to Africa instead of the military members. By the way the CDC has provided those 4,000 military members with just 4 hours of training and advice the military those members don't need Hazmat equipment because they won't be "exposed" directly to Ebola. You can bet it the CDC workers were going in instead of the military members they would have Hazmat equipment.

Obama's lapdog Hagel had this response for the media “The 101st troops deploying don’t need the whole hazmat suit because they’re not going to be in contact with anyone with Ebola."

The whole Ebola mess reveals the lack of common sense of Obama and the CDC.

Restrict flights from Africa. Screen there. Those steps would save hundreds of millions of dollars, and lives.

As to sending soldiers, you send them to fight.

Send Liberia money to build hospitals instead of Obama urinating it away.

I thought the reason we give billions to the UN and the International Red Cross is so they could deal with these type of none military type of situations?

Dunderhead strikes again.

A fucking moran like you blames the "Ebola" mess on Obama, even though only TWO people died in the country.

While conveniently ignoring the fact that thousands die every year from influenza...

Grain alcohol and Fhoax news kool aid don't mix. If you ever bothered to come within an earshot of objectivity. You would realize that there is no other organization on the planet that has the logistical and command and control capabilities of the US military...

So you feel our military should replace the UN?
You mean the CDC?

It was your original assertion. It's in the title of the thread...

You originally claimed the CDC should be in charge not the military.

Now are you claiming that the UN should be responsible rather than the military or CDC?

You're having reading comprehension problems again. I said the CDC should send 4,000 of their 15,000 employees instead of our military members and I pointed out the UN and international red cross are paid to be the ones to respond to these type of things.

Our military is for protecting our citizens with use of swift and deadly force if needed, not as nurse maids to sick Africans, that's Africa's job and if they need international help that's what why we pay the UN and the international red cross billions every year.

The CDC doesn't have the infrastructure or logistical support required to provide an immediate response for a crisis situation in a foreign country. They don't have manned transport aircraft at their fingertips ready to deploy in an instance. Nor do they have warehouses full of medical equipment, prepacked specifically to treat ebola patients in foreign countries.Or staffers who are available to deploy to a foreign nation 24/7. The healthcare system in the united states relies on self reporting by hospitals and other health care treatment facilities to populate a data base that the CDC constantly monitors with pattern recognition software to determine if there are any outbreaks in the country.

Therefore US military is the only organization in the government that can deploy assets to transport large numbers of supplies and materials in a short time.

BTW, you really think its realistic for the UN to respond to such a crisis given their budget? What is it? 5 billion or something? Compared to the 680 billion spent on defense?

Of course not they couldn't respond to a single case of Ebola in the United States. It's your typical overstaffed (15,000) over funded ($6.5 Billion) government farce. 8-) The outbreak in Africa is not our military's problem, it's Africa's and the UN's.

Elkin, it would be fun to watch "Jeopardy!" with you and see who can answer and who can't.

Now come on, Elkin, you seem like a nice enough young liberal airhead, but your IQ isn't high and that's readily apparent.

For example, I didn't blame Ebola on Obama. What I did blame on him is what he deserves blame for -- the idiotic notion that a travel ban won't work when history proves otherwise.

It is moronic to continue to allow incoming flights from West Africa. Stop them, get a handle on the situation, educate the CDC on handling Ebola, educate nurses nationally, and halt Ebola in Africa.

Only morons would suggest shutting down the airspace because three people in the nation contracted ebola. Given the current threat level, there is no logical reason to shut down the airspace. Shutting down the airspace in this situation would be equivalent to cutting off your finger because the paper cut is now infected. Only panicky conservative assholes who sole purpose in life is to generate webpage clicks and generate TV ad revenue advocate such draconian measures. They are nothing more than Twitter attention whores who are looking to maintain relevance through social media.

Hundreds of thousands of people on the planet die every year from the influenza. A much more contagious and deadly illness, and who wants to bet that John Forbes doesn't even get a flu shot. How come conservatives aren't raving about malaria or TB? Those two illness kill hundreds of thousands more every year. Where's the outrage in the conservative news circles.

Two nurses contracted the disease and were isolated immediately, and not a single individual associated contracted the disease. NY doctor was immediately hospitalized and isolated. The Nigerian government after an ebola outbreak, educated the public and screened all people entering the nation, and there has not been a single infection since. Any Fox news coverage about the Nigerian government's response to the ebola crisis???

Common sense dictates quarantine to contain infectious disease.

In the US, that means containing Ebola in West Africa, which means stopping inbound plane traffic for a while to sort this out.

Obama and his ilk have some sort of insane sense of Political Correctness based on Liberia's history.

That's just insane.

Operating out of South Africa during the Apartheid era in the early 1980’s, Dr. Wouter Basson launched a secret bioweapons project called Project Coast. The goal of the project was to develop biological and chemical agents that would either kill or sterilize the black population and assassinate political enemies. Among the agents developed were Marburg and Ebola viruses......

Elk who talked about shutting down airspace?

Shutting down the airspace is akin to prohibiting travel, get it through your concrete brain.

Nigeria had an outbreak which was contained and their borders are completely open with thorough screening of travelers. And there has not been a single reported case of ebola since.

Common sense is certainly foreign to a lightly educated, none too bright chap like Elkin.
