Koskinen testified under oath to Congress that Lois Lerner reported her hard drive had crashed and that in an email she said she had lost her emails and wanted IT to recover them. Congress finally got ahold of the email that Lerner sent out about her hard drive crash, there was NO MENTION of missing emails, Lerner said she had lost personal files she had on the computer and wanted them recovered. In fact IT records reflect that they were tasked with recovering Lerner's personal files not her emails, there was no mention of missing emails to IT. An IRS IT person testified today that a hard drive crash could result in personal files stored on the hard drive going missing but would not result in missing emails.

The other email was very odd, with the suggestion in the email that a bad hard drive would leave Lerner without email, which of course it would not.

The whole IRS story seems like it was put together by people with zero knowledge of how computers work in a government setting, which is that they are networked.

Let's say Lerner took a hammer to her hard drive. It would not mean that any of her email would be lost.
