A police department received a frantic call that gang members had forced their way into a families' home and were killing members of the family. The chief of police determined that since the attack was under way any response would probably be to late so he told the patrols to stand down and not to respond. He was also concerned that the sirens might wake up people in the neighborhood causing them to complain so best to do nothing.
4 family members were killed, others managed to escape on their own, some badly injured. The next day media responded to the house where the killing took place taking pictures, the police department said the scene was still to dangerous so they wouldn't be on scene for a couple of weeks.
The police department's spokesperson held a new conference explaining that they've determine a member of the family had been playing his music too loud which agitated the gang members living next door, the spokesperson promised the gang members they would be using everything in their police power to hold the family member responsible for upsetting them. The next day the family member was arrested and charged with public disturbance for his loud music and held without bond.
When the media questioned that the loud music was the cause of the attack, the Chief of Police yelled "At this point what difference does it make?". Two years later the Police Department's spokesperson was asked why no one was held accountable for the murders and he responded "Dude that was two years ago, get over it"
