Fairfax County Police say officers removed more than 1,200 laptop computers from the home of a public schools employee who has been charged with embezzlement.

Authorities say an investigation was begun in October. On Jan. 9 after a tip, police say they removed 1,200 computers from Soderberg's home. None of the computers had been reported missing by the school system, the school was unable to provide documentation concerning the procurement of the computers even though the employee admitted he stole them from the school.
When money is of no concern and there is no accountability, this is what happens.

The single greatest factor in determining the success of a school/quality of education is the amount of money it has.
Actually just the opposite is true. D.C. spends the most and turns out the least educated, schools that spend the least turn out the most educated because there's less union involvement milking the system and interfering with the classes holding the children hostage.

Imagine a private school that only has a need for 300 laptops but looses 1,200 laptops and doesn't even miss them. Would never happen but in public schools it's the accepted norm.

[quoteThat's right. Let's give them $3.00 an hour and only the hours they worked; not any of that silly planning time, or any time they spend before or after school. That would be $19.50 a day (7:45 to 3:00 PM with 45 min. off for lunch and planning -- that equals 6-1/2 hours).
So each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children. Now how many students do they teach in a day...maybe 30? So that's $19.50 x 30 = $585 a day.

However, remember they only work 180 days a year!!! I am not going to pay them for any vacations.

LET'S SEE....

That's $585 X 180= $105,300 per year. (Hold on! My calculator needs new batteries).

What about those special education teachers and the ones with Master's degrees? Well, we could pay them minimum wage ($7.75), and just to be fair, round it off to $8.00 an hour. That would be $8 X 6-1/2 hours X 30 children X 180 days = $280,800 per year.

Wait a minute -- there's something wrong here! There sure is!

The average teacher's salary (nationwide) is $50,000.

$50,000/180 days = $277.77 per day / 30 students = $9.25 / 6.5 hours = $1.42 per hour per student -- a very inexpensive baby-sitter and they even EDUCATE your kids!)

WHAT A DEAL!!!!

Make a teacher smile; repost this to show appreciation for all educators.

The best thing you can do for the lives of your children is to get them the fuck out of a government school and away from people like Blabo
Anyone who has the means to send their children to a private school and doesn't do so should be charged with child abuse. Concerning keeping them away from people like Bilbo, that's harder to do.

Right wing ideologues put the blame on the educators for low math and science scores because their students would rather use the smartphones or play video games. Maybe explains why certain people don't believe that humans are causing global warming...

Example of a failed public education.

So the schools are at fault because the teachers don't do the students homework...

In one post above, somebody talks about needing a new battery for a pocket calculator.

But I went to high school before calculators, back when computers were mainframes and had punch cards.

So I could do the arithmetic quite easily, which again shows that spending money has nothing whatever to do with school performance.

America had one president who was a superb writer, and that president read Blackstone in the shade while resting his mules -- Lincoln.

Bear in mind, Bilbo, that my grandmothers were teachers, my mother was, my aunt was, my one brother was, my one sister was, and so on.

I do respect teaching, but all the teachers in my extended family condemned the deleterious effects of teacher unions.

I recently visited the middle school where my brother once taught. It was been redone, with a two-story atrium and an Olympic-size swimming pool. Test scores? They've gone down.

There was a time, teachers spent more than 4 hours a day in a classroom and they often took papers home with them to grade, all in an effort to do the best job they could to teach the students.

I can't speak for all States but in my State teachers are restricted to 4 hours of classroom time a day and prohibited from doing any work outside of work hours, the teacher's union strictly enforces those rules, they actually have teachers who's only job is to represent the union and insure teachers don't violate union rules by working to hard. Since unions our public schools have went to hell, it's now all about milking the system, not educating students.
