Political discussions about everything

Wealthy brat Ethan Couch killed four people, including a mother and daughter, while blacked-out drunk and driving 70 mph on a rural road in June. Defense attorneys said the boy suffered from 'affluenza' and blamed the boy's parents, saying they gave him everything he wanted and didn't teach him about consequences.

A spoiled Texas teen who killed four in a drunken driving accident dodged prison and was sentenced to probation instead after defense lawyers argued his wealthy parents never taught him right from wrong.

Ethan Couch, 16, was facing 20 years behind bars for the horrific June wreck, but instead walked out of a Fort Worth courtroom Tuesday with 10 years' probation.
The rich brat's legal team said he needed counseling, not hard time, and proposed sending him to a posh Southern California treatment facility that would cost his family $500,000 a year.

"Money always seems to keep [Couch] out of trouble," Eric Boyles, who lost his wife and daughter in the wreck, told the Star-Telegram newspaper.

"Ultimately today, I felt that money did prevail. If [he] had been any other youth, I feel like the circumstances would have been different"

The basis for all these teagagger statements. Bold faced lies pulled out of their ass.

There are virtually no people who think OJ was innocent. All you prove is the invalidity of your posts.

As always, blinded by your liberal ideology, you miss the point. OJ bought himself a not guilty ( I wonder if you even know the difference between "not guilty" and a "innocent"? Someone who actually had a real Ph.D degree, instead of your fantasy one, would) verdict by preying on white liberal guilt and the "Get even" mentality of black jurors. Toss in an easily manipulated judge and a horrific multiple murderer walks free. But call him what he is, and libtards call you a racist.

Thankfully a small measure of justice was served when, tiring of hearing of his exploits involving all the white women he had fucked, a skin head Nazi thoroughly and completely kicked OJ's ass in the Nevada prison where both were serving time, putting him in the hospital for and extended stay. I would imagine when the fight started all the guards suddenly found something else that urgently needed attending to.

OJ was as guilty as the cops that pummeled Rodney King. Everybody knows that, and nobody disputes it.

It was jury nullification, for both cases.

It's insanity for a judge to give someone probation for killing four people. The boy was too wealthy to know what he was doing was wrong? Any poor black or white would have been quickly shuttled to the state pen.

10 years probation is kind of stiff for an accident by a child of only 16 years old. He must have be white or else it would have never went to trial and the records sealed since he was a juvenile. I'll bet anything he's white, the only reason liberals would gloat over 10 years probation for this kid.

No, it wasn't nullification for the Texas kid. He pleaded guilty to drunk driving. There was no doubt he committed the crime. The sentence, or lack thereof, is squarely on the judge.

With OJ, a jury of his peers found him not guilty. Same with NRA hero George Zimmerman.

OJ and the Texas kid are apples and oranges.

What gets me if you have liberals gloating over a child being sentenced to 10 years probation and his life destroyed by the media. If the kid was black there would be outrage for the sentencing and the fact that his identify wasn't protected as a juvenile.

Hmmmm. You already said that, JustFreedManMe. Your multi-nicking is so out of hand that you're confusing yourself using only one nick today.

I'd suggest you seek help before it's too late, but it already is.

Ironic that Grog speaks of multi-nicking.

At last count, my alert staff members have found 3,241 different login names Grog has used on this very forum.

Grog, you're once again wrong. In my first post I didn't know he was white, after I found out he is white I posted the second one...read them both real slow and it'll come to you.

Affluenza, a portmanteau of affluence and influenza, is a term used by critics of consumerism. The book Affluenza: The All-Consuming Epidemic defines it as "a painful, contagious, socially transmitted condition of overload, debt, anxiety and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more".[1]

Proponents of the term consider that the prizing of endless increases in material wealth may lead to feelings of worthlessness and dissatisfaction rather than experiences of a 'better life', and that these symptoms may be usefully captured with the metaphor of a disease. They claim some or even many of those who become wealthy will find the economic success leaving them unfulfilled and hungry only for more wealth, finding that they are unable to get pleasure from the things they buy and that increasingly material things may come to dominate their time and thoughts to the detriment of personal relationships and to feelings of happiness.
..........In December of 2013, State District Judge Jean Boyd sentenced a North Texas teenager to 10 years probation for driving while drunk and killing four pedestrians after his attorneys successfully argued that the teen suffered from affluenza and needed rehabilitation, and not prison. The teen was witnessed on surveillance video stealing beer from a store, driving with seven passengers in his Ford F-350, speeding, and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit (0.24). A defense psychologist testified in court that the teen was a product of affluenza and was unable to link his bad behavior with consequences due to his parents teaching him that wealth buys privilege. The rehabilitation facility near Newport Beach, California that the teen will be attending will cost his family $450,000.00 annually over a 10 year period.[6][7]
I still maintain that the wealth of this boy's family had at least some influence on that judge. I don't think some poor street kid from the 'Hood or the Park would have been let off so easily. It demonstrates the double standard for the rich and the poor. And bad parenting or being spoiled is no excuse for theft, reckless driving, and drunken manslaughter. I cannot find if the parents paid a large fine to the municipality.

Another thing to consider is that the boy was tried as a juvenile..
Scott Brown, the boy's lead defense attorney, said he could have been freed after two years if he had drawn the 20-year sentence. Instead, the judge "fashioned a sentence that could have him under the thumb of the justice system for the next 10 years," he told the Star-Telegram.
It seems the law may have influenced the judge also. Maybe if that boy screws up in the next ten years, the judge can put him behind bars where he belongs.

-If a child comes from a very wealthy family they're expected to be screwed up in the head, they're not accountable.

-If a child comes from a very poor family they're expected to be screwed up in the head, they're not accountable.

-If a child comes from a middle class family, there is "NO" excuse for their actions.

It's sad but that's how our society sees it and punishes accordingly.

If violating probation actually will put this kid behind bars, maybe that judge is smarter and more patient than we realize. That boy has ten years to not fuck up. And he may be a legal adult when he does. And he doesn't understand that his behavior has consequences. He's young, and he has a long time to pay for what he did.

ABTW I'll have to disagree with you dude. It's the middle class suburban and rich kids who skate. Nobody gives a fuck about some 'Hood Rat or trailer park boy going to jail.

What about the 100's of thousands of "violent" teenage thugs who meant to harm other people that are out on probation? I'd rather this kid be out on the streets than those thugs who continue to prey on innocents.

Yes, it's time to empty our prisons of people who should never have been in prison, simple drug users and small time light drug dealers. We can get them medical help and counseling.

It's time to put violent criminals in jail for a long time and the same for irresponsible people who harm others, as well as those who are repeat offender, regardless of wealth.

The "War on Drugs" has been one of the biggest fuck ups of all time. Prohibition always is. It never works, costs billions, and only makes more violent people wealthy.

Even the DOJ admits that over 80% of crimes are related to drugs, the person was either on drugs when committing the crime or committing the crime to buy more drugs. It's delusional to say people are in prison just because they used drugs, that is not the case.

What we need is a real war on drugs, take drugs off the streets and our crime problem is resolved, we can close 70% or our prisons. Anyone selling drugs should go to prison for life. 60% of the people on welfare and disability could rejoin the community of the sober and get jobs.

One region of Russia had such a heroin problem it was destroying the region, someone how (HeHe) the heroin on the streets started killing people, it was 100% instant death if injected, hundreds died the first month the spiked heroin hit the streets, within a year the region's crime rate dropped over 90%, people were able to return to work, hospital rooms became available.
