One-day labor walkouts were planned at fast-food restaurants in 100 cities Thursday, with protests in scores more cities and towns across the nation. Organizers, actually a loose-knit group of labor advocates mostly led by the Service Employees International Union, are pressing for an increase in the federal minimum wage, higher wages in the industry, and the right to unionize without management reprisals.

The advocacy groups are hoping to build public support for raising the minimum wage to $15-per-hour. One SEIU spokesperson explained "these are the people that handle your food and at the moment they're very angry at their employers and in some cases those who eat there, they deserve to be paid a living wage."

Sounds like I'll stop eating fast food, I don't want to eat something prepared by some stranger angry at me!

We should stop eating a fastfood places until they start providing living wages, that's the only thing they'll understand. Hit them in the pocket book until they pony up and start paying appropriate wages with benefits.

You do realize businesses aren't funded by tax payers don't you? You shut a business down they lay people off, they don't raise wages, they actually have to operate on a fixed budget based upon what they bring in...unless they borrow money from China and just raise their debt limit when ever they overspend and just demand people give them money to cover their incompetence...ooops I forgot they aren't funded by the tax payers.

Water is pretty much all I drink these days. Obamacare --Republicans, actually-- wouldn't pay for more than three liver transplants despite my record-breaking Little League baseball career.
