Oh, wait.

People are kicked off their individual plans every year.

Every year the insurance company changes terms, conditions, coverage, and prices.

Every year the insurance needs to comply with new government regulations, state and sometimes federal.

Every year the insurance company needs to adjust to new court rulings.

Always has. Always will. Well, until we have universal, single payer basic insurance coverage. Then only the additional optional coverages will change price.

Still. Obamacare is good for the country. Good for the economy. Good for the people.

The Republican alternative is, well, non-existent, or the previous status quo, far, far worse.

Could it be better, and smoother. Why, yes, of course, but, Republicans wouldn't let it be better or smoother and ar4e still trying their best to make it far, far worse and screw the people even more.

Bilbo we're talking about cancellations, not changes in the plan, wake up dude. :?
The National Center for Public Policy Research discovered that 1.5 million insurance cancellations have already gone out since June of this year. Another 8 million have been notified their companies will not longer offer family insurance plans, the majority will be requiring the associate to actually pay more for individual plans than they had been paying for their discontinued family plans.

News reports say ....Already Fly by Night insurance companies are cropping up looking to cash in on Obamacare. The exec of an Insurance company only a few weeks old says it has signed up 1000 applicants and it needs 15,000 by the end of the year to cover the loan it received to get started. The company has 35 employees. Theyre not waiting for the web site.....they are targeting small businesses with ads and phone calls and trying to avoid signing up those with prior illnesses. And so the scams begin ! Was this a great country or what ?

The ACA law.

You have the right to keep your old plan. Old plans are grandfathered in. No one is being kicked off their old plan because of the ACA. They are being kicked off old plans because insurers decide to terminate the old plan. The insurers are not required by law to terminate the old plan. Old plans are grandfathered in.

Hey, justupid. It's a title for a thread. I have not been kicked off an insurance plan. I have group insurance through my employer. No change at all other than the usual changes.

Morons: insurance companies change and terminate plans all the time. That is their decision as a private sector insurance company. No the ACA did not mandate that insurers keep old plans. It only mandated that old plans are grandfathered in and may continue to be offered.

You would have squealed if it had been any other way.

Bilbo- 400% increase in health care insurance cost.

That sounds more like the elimination of a crap no benefit program.

Fact: Obama said if you like your present health plan you can keep your plan. You can't deny he said it. There are individuals who have heatlh plans they bought on their OWN, not through their employer or group plans. These individuals are being notified by their Inssurance companies that their individual plan is being cancelled because it does not meet the ACA standards. Their plans ARE being cancelled BECAUSE of ACA.

These individuals....are their plans, crap plans? Maybe be so...but it's their plan and they like it ! And Obama promised they could keep THEIR plan !

Bilbo...for God sake ! Get your head out of your ass ! People are being screwed because of ACA !

Yes, Obama said that, and it's true.

There is one condition that is out of his control, has been before the ACA and before hes was President, insurers can terminate plans. That is what has happened. Insurers by their own choice have terminated plans, much as they always have. That is how capitalism works. The private sectors determines if it wants to terminate plans. Some insurers have decided that they want to terminate plans, just as they always have decided in the past.

It's really not hard for an honest person to understand.
By sillydaddy

Yes....the insurance companies have the right to terminate plans.......but they are telling these individuals that its because their plans don't meet the ACA standards....in effect saying its not their choice but the ACA law forcing them to comply with the new standards.

Obama could easily fix this....all he has to do is give individual health plans a waiver.
The train has already went off the bridge and nothing can stop that train from the pending impact, nothing.

You mean the insurance companies would take this opportunity to increase rates and blame it falsely on the ACA knowing that stupid shit eater teagaggeres would eat it up like candy? Well, yeh.
Obama could easily fix this....all he has to do is give individual health plans a waiver.
A waiver for what? They are grandfathered in by the ACA legislation. The insurance companies can continue to provide the old plans as long as they want to provide them. Some decided to terminate those plans because they decided to terminate those plans.

teagaggers prove one thing, you can't fix stupid (teagaggers).

Fox News exposes erros in this story.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/10/3 ... ail=email#
Greta teed up the interview using the same setup as Crawford’s piece, that Barrette is “finding out she will have to pay 10 times as much for health insurance” because “she is losing her current plan to Obamacare.”
“I have a copy of your Florida Blue insurance and it’s about $54 a month,” Greta continued, “and now I understand that under Obamacare, it’s going to go up, at least they said that the policy they would offer you under Florida Blue, would be $591; is that correct?”

Actually, the plan BCBSFL was only one of many plans Dianne has to choose from, 10 of which are cheaper than that $591, and based on her income, she’d only pay around $209 a month, but Greta did cut right to the chase about the quality of her old plan.

“Your $54 a month policy is a pretty, you know, bare bones policy, “Greta said. “Why do you want to keep that one, except for the price? Maybe you can get something better with a subsidy?”
Ms. Barrette goes on to say that this 'insurance' is perfect for what she needs: a doctor visit copay and prescription copay, and maybe some outpatient services. It turns out that she actually had that reversed and the insurance company paid a $50 'copay' towards a doctor visit, and $15 for prescriptions, and she herself was responsible for all the rest of the costs. The interviewee acknowledged no hospital stays were covered in response to Greta's question.
Now this is exactly the type of junk insurance Obamacare is meant to do away with, and it is not surprising that people don't know what their insurance covers. But a reporter with a major news outlet should have done some reporting and learned that. So it should be of great embarassment to CBS to be shown up that way by Fox filling in missing facts in their story.

What is funny though is that a subsequent interview that was to take place on Fox News with Ms. Barrette, was cancelled, after Greta poked holes in the story.

Following her chat with Van Susteren, Barrette got word from a network producer that her appointment to appear this morning on Fox News was cancelled, she tells the Erik Wemple Blog.

People are losing high cost-low coverage plans. ACA has minimum standards for coverage, prescription drug, blood testing, preventative care, etc.

So why am I not suprised that the neocons are complaining because people are losing coverage of their crappy insurance plans..

People are not kicked off their plans every year; mine has remained unchanged for 30 yrs.

Obamacare already costs at least triple what Obama promised.

People can't keep their doc or their plan.

The typical family will not see the $2500 lower premium Obama claimed.

There are single males in their 50s who don't need pregnancy services.

But they only plans they will get under Obamacare will cost them a lot more because all the welfare mothers Obama loves are counting on others to pay for their care.

Obamacare is a disaster.

Insurance companies are cutting policies because they cannot provide competitive rates. This is the unregulated conservative free market solution to premiums. High costs...good bye. Low cost plans survive. I just read about a woman in Fl who was complaining that she was losing a $50 a month plan. Can anybody here objectively claim that 50 bucks will provide anywhere near adequate coverage...

Some insurance companies are seeing an opportunity to manipulate their customers and move them to more expensive plans while falsely blaming it on the ACA. Companies like the ones that provide $50.00 per month plans that provide no real benefits.

Then some people look at the exchanges and see the cost of real insurance.

This is a very sad comment of the super low cost frauds we allow to feed on the most susceptible in our country.
By johnforbes
#31764
No, males will not receive care for women.

Obviously.

But they will pay for it, thus increasing their premiums and deductibles.

This is the total mess of Obamacare, where the federal govt dictates what a health plan must contain, and the poor naive folks who voted for Obama will be screwed.

The insurance companies that bought into Obamacare are starting to balk and are warning that they may have to double the rates next year due to only the sick signing up and the millions of young people Obama promised aren't signing up. Some are asking to be removed from the Obamacare listing stating they were misled by the Government about those who would be signing up.
U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Wednesday admitted some insurers have asked to be removed from the ACA Marketplace but said "that isn't an option". She explained while they may have to operate at a loss for a short period; given time they will adjust to the reduced profits and learn to operate more efficiently.

Remember Joe Wilson?
In September 2009, Wilson received international attention when he interrupted a speech by U.S. President Barack Obama to a joint session of Congress by shouting "You lie!"[4][5] The incident resulted in a formal rebuke by the House of Representatives.[6]
The House or Representatives owe's Joe an apology.

As I said previously.

All you teagaggers would have squealed about tyrants if the ACA had required insurers to continue the old plans in perpetuity.

Then their is the simple fact that each and every year that individual health care insurance was offered in the past the policies expired at the end of the year. In all those years well over half were kicked off their old policies.

Simply nothing new here.

Not even the illegitimate whining of the teagaggers is new. Just SOP fact free whining by teagaggers.

Free market Capitalism.

Health Care Insurers can freely terminate their old policies and adopt new policies that meet the new standards. They may also keep their old policies if they choose to do so as the old policies were grandfathered in. They can keep a mix of new and old policies. It's their choice. Then their customers may make their choices from the choices that their old insurer gives them, or they may go to the exchanges, a new additional choice they never had before.

What a horror, those who are insured may keep their old policies (if their insurer chooses to offer the old policy), or they may take a new policy from their old insurer, or they may take a new policy from some other insurer. All the same choices they have had in the past. Then they have one additional choice, they may go to the health care insurance exchanges, a new choice they never had before.

Insurers, as they have always been able to do in the past, may still cancel their old policies because it is their free market right to do so under a capitalistic system.

What a horror of a free market capitalistic system.

One can only assume that the malicious teagagger whiners don't really like free market capitalism.

Obama knew in the summer of 2010 that millions of Americans would be kicked off their plans.

He knew when the Federal Register came out explaining that.

So Obama lied about it for years and said people could keep their plans.

Yes, absolutely everyone in the nation knew that insurance companies would continue to act just as they had always acted. That is true. Absolutely nothing new has occurred. Absolutely no one was kicked off their plan because of the ACA. We all know that.

Then there are the dishonest sound bite politics of the radical reactionary extremist faction of the country. Distorting the truth as always for personal profit.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all, no one was kicked off their plan because of the ACA, they were kicked off their plans by greedy insurance companies not wanting to provide coverages. The ACA is working, people who couldn't get coverage are getting coverage, ACA is more than a webpage, they have offices and you can call 1-800#'s, all the outrage over the website is smoke and mirrors by teabaggers.

The reality is very clear now....Obama lied to suppress public resistance to the ACA. Now that the ACA is law and has taken effect the truth comes out and he admits he lied. Spin it any way you want ......insurance companies wouldn't be doing all this cancelling of policies at this time if Obamacare had not given them the opportunity.

Has anyone on this site actually lost their insurance coverage as a result of the ACA?
If so, may we see a copy of the letter terminating your insurance?

Or, failing that, have your rates gone up because of the ACA?
If so, by how much?
How much were the annual increases before the ACA became law?

Maybe some of you can provide some real world data instead of what we are hearing from people with an agenda.

To discuss politics, one must look beyond his own personal situation.

My health insurance has not changed and, even if it did, a well-to-do person could get concierge coverage.

The point is: What is Obamacare doing to the country?

Obama said Obamacare would cost 900 b, and so far it is triple.

He said people could keep their plans, keep their docs, and that was a lie.

He said costs would go down; the opposite is happening.

Obamacare was rammed through on a purely partisan basis, nobody read the bill, and that's why America is saddled with this mess.

I realize that can be scary for people, we’ve got to make sure that we’re getting folks the right information, that's why I'm here for you, millions will die next month, period!
