Political discussions about everything

Yes, unions have or will probably get a one year extension in bringing their employer based health insurance up to the new standards because their health plan insurers failed to meet the new standards in time. You see, unions do not actually provide the insurance, they just pay for it. The union employees under these plans will be saved from having a discontinuity in their insurance. The unions will continue to provide insurance as required under the ACA. The insurers will have one year to respond. The union employes remain under employer health care plans as required by the ACA, rather than be put on the health care exchanges as would be a real exemption to the ACA due to a failure on part of the insurers

How horrible, for a few dishonest radical reactionary assholes who want to cause havoc, like the author of this thread.

Bilbo you're not very sharp are you? The unions are demanding exemptions from the 40% Cadillac taxes, which all three of the branches were given, but blow joe on the street will have to pay those taxes if they get a good health care plan like union and Government workers have. The head of the AFL-CIO told union workers last month that Obama assured him union workers would be exempt but it might have to wait until after the 2014 elections. Republicans in the House are demanding that if Obamacare has to apply to one citizen it should apply to every citizen, unions and government workers shouldn't be exempt from the Cadillac tax.
A 40 percent excise tax will be imposed on the value of health insurance benefits exceeding a certain threshold. The thresholds are $10,200 for individual coverage and $27,500 for family coverage (indexed to inflation). The thresholds increase for individuals in high-risk professions and for employers that have a disproportionately older population.

You know that makes no sense. Oh, right, you don't know.

Then there is this, the WH has rejected exemptions for the unions.

Oh, and the 1,000s of exemptions that have been granted unions??? Well, not really

The 1,000s of exemptions went to, small businesses with mini-med high deductible plans. They got a 1 year temporary extension to come into compliance.

Th unions exemption, turned down.

Oh, and the Congressional exemption is not an Obama exemption. It is a exception written into the ACA by, drum roll, Republicans. Congressional employees are only group to have been kicked out of their employer health care insurance plan as required by the Republican amendment. They retain their employer supported co-payments. The controversy is about retaining that employer co-pay just like every other person in the 85% who retained their employer insurance.. Something which House Republicans quietly support, including the Speaker of the House.
