All empowered by the most gerrymandered House districts of all time. Another process meant to undermine democracy and the Constitution to save a dieing party that will do anything to survive. This is what happens when a party dominated by weak people is extorted by a small group of domestic terrorists. Not more than a couple reasonable people in the Republican House are willing to stand up to the bullies they fear. They simply quake in their shoes. No amount of external counseling by more reasonable Republicans outside the government has been more important than their fear. They have no loyalty to the country or the people that will surmount their fear of the domestic terrorists in their party. They reap what they have sown and take the rest of us down in their folly.
