In his nationally televised address Tuesday night, President Barack Obama said he told legislators to hold off on voting on their resolution to deal with Syria and its use of chemical weapons.

First of all it's a Congressional resolution not a White House resolution. He has no authority to tell them when and what to vote on. My question is why is Congress bowing to Obama, could it be so them and their staff get special treatment such as exemptions from Obamacare?

It's called leadership. Just like when Reagan asked Congress to do things, or G.H.W.Bush asked them to do things.

Speaking from the White House's East Room, Obama said U.S. and Russian officials would keep talking about the initiative and that he would discuss it with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Meanwhile, he said he had instructed the U.S. Senate to put off a vote on his request for an authorization of military force to let the diplomacy play out. He set no timetables for action, but said any deal with Assad would require verification that he keep his word.

Congress should ignore Obama's instructions and do what they were sent to Congress to do, represent the people and vote on the matter.
