If McDonald's doubled it's wages for all store employees including all the managers and if the full cost was passed on to it's customers, the cost to the public of it's Big Mac would go from $3.99 to $4.27. That is a whopping 12% increase in it's products.

Then again, even if McDonald's passed on none of the additional cost of the wage increase, McDonalds would still see a huge increase in it's profits and the profits of it's stores due to the increased amount of money in the hands of consumers as has been seen in every other minimum wage increase..

As a note.

If McDonald's double the wages of all it's employees, including it's CEO's $5,000,000.00, then the Big Mac would go from $3.99 to $4.67.

That is $0.27 of the price increase would go to it's multitude of store employees while $0.40 of the price increase would go to it's far far fewer corporate employees.

Another way to state this is that currently.

The small number of McDonald's corporate employees get 60% of the wages paid out from McDonald's business operations.

While

The huge number of store employees get 40% of the wages paid out from McDonald's business operations.

===============================================================================================

The current economic problem in a nut shell.

Ration of CEO pay to average employee pay

1970: 20:1

2010: 237:1

And that does not reflect the very simple fact that the real ratio is much worse because in 1970 that ration included many very low wage employees in companies that have since been outsourced as contractors. Such as corporations no longer employee

secretaries: outsourced
cafeteria workers: outsourced
maintenance staff: outsourced
grounds workers: outsourced
receptionists: outsourced
telephone operators: eliminated
data entry clerks: outsourced
etc.

Minimum wage was NEVER intended to be a living wage, but, Demcorat destruction of the country has left many jobs at the minimum wage level.

How many of those slobs mopping the floor have started successful businesses and hired and maintained a staff?

I began doing agricultural manual labor for far less than the minimum wage, which back then was $1 an hour.

So I have sympathy for low-wage workers.

But, if the min wage is elevated, why wouldn't an employer simply hire illegal immigrants?

The presence of 12 million illegal immigrants drives down wages for unskilled workers.

More people who have wielded a mop have started businesses than CEOs. Far more.
There's nothing wrong with starting out pushing a mop, but if they remain pushing mops they shouldn't expect to be paid more than a mop pusher.

If you've seen any of the youtube clips of the fastfood workers bitching about their pay and what they do to the food and drinks you would stop eating fastfood. Those dumb asses spitting in your food and pissing in your drinks are already getting paid more than they're worth.

Yes, faux.

Now pass immigration reform. Make rational market based immigration quotas where labor meets demand.

or simply continue the current illegitimate two class system that creates illegal immigrants and incentives to pay below minimum wage to those who are summarily subject to irrational laws for simply working giving unscrupulous employers a chance to break the laws.

As you pointed out, the major problem is with employers, not with peoploe who simply want to work and make a living.

So companies are making them illegal and it has nothing to do with them unlawfully sneaking into the Country? I do agree though any company that pay an illegal a penny should be prosecuted and forced to pay the social costs of the illegal and his family going back to the time he hired the illegal. Hell at 25K a year per child in our public school system alone it could add up really quick, not mention food stamps, medical bills, housing, etc, etc.

The reason I speak conversational Spanish isn't because I took a class. It is because I began life doing agricultural manual labor for far less than the minimum wage, which back then was $1 an hour.

It's interesting to see how Liberals/Socialists think. Like most people, I started out making near minimum wage, but, within a year I was working in my desired field and making double the minimum wage. In my case I didn't work here just anyone could replace me, at least not the millions of mindless drones, and that's the key to making more than MINIMUM WAGE.

The FMW is not and was never intended to be a living wage, it would be stupid to legislate that all jobs pay at least the amount of money needed to provide all the benefits/wants of anyone, people would work less, lower themselves, and the wage would just have to be increased again and again.

The problem is that people have accepted the Liberal/Socialist ideals of YOU OWE ME instead of I MUST MAKE MYSELF BETTER.

The minimum wage was enacted during the great depression.

I don't drink, so there are no beer bottles -- real or metaphorical -- to throw in the trash.

Illegal immigrants tend to speak Spanish. I did that sort of agricultural labor as a kid, so I picked up some Spanish that way.

Interesting.

Double minimum wage = being able to pay rent or mortgage AND buy food - not one or the other.

Increasing prices = company still makes a profit.

Capping executive wages at 50 times the lowest paid worker = smart, both investors and employees benefit and not at the expense of highly overpaid old boys club members. Doesn't matter whether you think they earned or deserve it, they didn't and don't, they put their pants on one leg at a time just like everybody else and have been luckier than most to secure that position but it doesn't mean they have the right, moral or otherwise, to rape the investors and employees with cheaper prices, lower wages and longer hours just for their overvalued benefit.

With over 20 Million people unemployed, there are NOT enough jobs for them. Color it any way you want, they just don't exist. With some limits on companies, executives and immigration, jobs and wages would increase, a fact that some will argue with but can't muster facts to back it up, only outdated, useless unproven theories which have been proven to NOT work. Not everybody can move up the ladder in companies, there just isn't enough room, there will always be people at the bottom and they shouldn't be forced into poverty just because companies don't have enough room to move up. Servitude is just when companies take advantage of lower paid employees, slavery is still alive and well in the old boys clubs, it's just called employees now.

The few pennies or dimes that companies would need to raise in prices would hardly be noticed by most people but would change the landscape as 10's of Millions more people would have MORE money to spend and not just on living or eating.

Bring back the Federal tax tables of 1950, the country was booming, the poor were few, the middle class was booming and the rich, well they were rich. :)

There is a revolution coming, bank on it. I just hope it is during my lifetime so I can join and be part of real history in the making.

Lol !......yea ! You may become the first casualty ! I would not hold my breath waiting for those greedy assholes to share the wealth. Take this test at home and I'll show you what I mean. Take a one dollar bill out of your pocket and look at it....look at it real good. Now, when was the last time you gave away a dollar simple because you had enough of them already to pay rent of mortgage and buy food. When it comes to money there's never enough and there never will be........such is human nature.

Costco pays on average more than double the minimum wage, and has a fraction of the turnover than Walmart.
