“The president has decided that to share in the sacrifice being made by public servants across the federal government that are affected by the sequester, he will contribute a portion of his salary back to the Treasury,” [an administration] official said.

A White House aide tells NBC's Chuck Todd that the salary for the president, as with members of Congress, is set by law and cannot be changed. However, the president has decided that to share in the sacrifice being made by public servants across the federal government, he will contribute a portion of his salary back to the Treasury.

HA HA HA HA - they make MILLIONS PER YEAR and he's going to "Sacrifice" part of his $400,000 per year salary - What a Joke.

If you want to talk about Honorable, Mitt Romney wasn't going to take a salary or compensation for being President if he was elected.

I don't think congress should get paid period until they pass a budget...

So Obama is offering to accept 5% less pay and that's his sacrifice? How about restricting his children to 2 multi-million vacations on the tax payer's dime a year? If Congress were to tell Obama his families' vacation budget is restricted to $5 million a year in tax money, Michelle would go ape shit!

I don't think ANYONE in responsible for having a part in the budget should get paid when there isn't a balanced one.

Politicians should ONLY be paid when they are productive and do something - not when they fail to vote.
