Political discussions about everything

(AP) A growing number of hospitals including one in southwestern Pennsylvania will stop delivering babies after March 31 because hospital officials believe they can't afford it based on reimbursement cuts under new health care laws. Parents would be expected to make up the unpaid portion and a hospital spokesperson explained there would no way to collect in many cases resulting in losses to the hospital. The spokesperson explained " Ironically the new law requires that abortions be fully funded".

Abortions are a medical issue and should be fully funded, neocons would prefer the women go to back alleys where clothes hangers are used. Those who want children can afford to pay a portion of the costs. Obama made some tough calls and he has it right on this one.

Freedman, if you are claiming that abortion is a medical issue so it should be fully funded, then it's logical that birth is a medical issue as well since both are caused by the same initial actions. The only difference is that in abortion the pregnancy is terminated by the violent murder of a child, where in birth the pregnancy is terminated by a child coming into the world alive rather than dead.

Abortion is very wrong when used as a substitute for birth control but to pay for abortions and not live births is Immoral and just proves that in this country we don't value human life.

By fully paying for the abortions we allow women to receive safe medical procedures rather than having it done in dirty rooms by non medical people. Many women have died as a result of those abortions, while you may not care I do. If you don't fully fund abortions you endanger thousands of women's life daily. The women having children don't have such risks and if they're having a child they have the money to pay for a small portion of the costs.

By rewarding women for having unprotected sex we only encourage more of it and we enforce the idea that life is meaningless.

Freedman, Just because a woman chooses to let her baby live doesn't mean she is any more flush financially, it just means that in her eyes contributing to the life of her child is more important than killing it. When you look at the death rates for women who have become pregnant, you'll find more women die during or from complications of child birth than abortion, so how can it be a moral decision to withhold full funding for the maternal care and delivery?

Did you realize that in the USA they are saying that about 22% of all pregnancies end in abortion? That is totally unacceptable that as a society we allow it to be so common and widespread. Abortion on demand as a substitute to birth control or abstinence is a national disgrace. What I would like to see is Obama Care to be totally scrapped, but if it's not and we are left holding the bag paying for abortions on demand, then every woman who comes in for her second abortion on demand where the pregnancy was not rape or incest induced should be forced to undergo sterilization as a condition of getting that second abortion. Then she will be free to choose whatever lifestyle she wants without me paying for it.

Number of live births in the USA (2010): 3,999,386
Number of Abortions in the USA (2008): 1,200,000 - didn't find a 2010 number, sorry

% of unmarried births: 40%

75% of women cite concern for or responsibility to other individuals.
75% say they cannot afford a child.
75% say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or the ability to care for dependents.
50% say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner.

(before you pick the % apart, women can give more than one answer)
