It will be interesting to see if Gaetz will be seated in the Senate next year.
It's likely that he resigned his Senate seat and 'withdrew' his nomination only with the understanding that the Republicans running things next year will still refuse to release the ethics report once they are steering the clown car, so Gaetz may be safe to resume his political career with impunity since a bunch of amoral enablers are now doing Trump's bidding.
"Trump in effect got Gaetz pardoned...paying back a favor for being a loyal Trumper.

sillydummy is a perfect reflection of the state of the current Republican Party. They honestly don't care that their representatives are criminals. They honestly don't care whether any Republicans are held responsible for their crimes as long as they are Trump supporters. They actually condone criminal behavior. Just look at silly's smug approval of Trump and Gaetz gaming the system to get off scot free for their crimes. Just look at johnforbes' smug approval of Trump's crimes going unpunished.

We can only hope that the next player up is the eminently unqualified Hegseth as Defense Secretary. Trump has actually nominated a guy with no management experience whatsoever to run the largest and most critical bureaucracy in the entire government. And johnforbes supports it. Notice he hasn't started a thread about it yet, so clearly he doesn't find it worthy of comment when compared to hippos eating fruitcake or which singer Harris supposedly paid for an endorsement. You know, the really important stuff on a partisan tool's mind.
Will Republicans finally grow a pair and stand up and put country over their slavish support of their obese political god? Probably not, but we must still hope. It would be a disaster to have an incompetent White Supremacist in control of the greatest military on earth. (We all saw what happened the last time White Supremacists controlled their own armies.) Just imagine who Hegseth will put in positions of authority and what damage he will do to the institutional knowledge that resides in the Pentagon. Not to mention what he will do after gaining years of experience deploying the Army on U.S. soil to 'fight' the immigration problem Republicans already voted to ignore for purely political reasons. This is clearly the plan Trump has to inure Americans to the presence of our military deployed on U.S. soil. We will get so bored hearing about the latest regional crackdown of the day that when Trump refuses to leave office in four years, everyone will think the Army surrounding the Capitol is just another normal day in the exhausting, chaotic, tiresome news cycle.
Perhaps johnforbes would be so good as to explain why he supports Hegseth as Defense Secretary....?
(You don't even need to start a new thread to do it, johnny. Feel free to chime in here.)
