Mikhail Gorbachev, the final leader of the Soviet Union and a reformer who helped end the Cold War and lead his country from communism to capitalism, died Tuesday at the age of 92, according to Russian news reports.

Gorbachev was one of the observers who had a few choice words for the U.S. president. As stated by CNBC, Gorbachev criticized the withdrawal, adding that the move was "... not the work of a great mind." The move was seen by many officials as an escalation of tensions between the U.S. and Russia, evoking memories of the Cold War.
