Political discussions about everything

After arresting and holding more than 500 people in connection with the riot at the Capitol Building in Washington, DC on Jan. 6, the FBI "has found scant evidence" to suggest that the events that unfolded that day were "the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result," Reuters exclusively reported on Friday.

In all, 570 people were arrested on charges, but the FBI now believes that the unrest that occurred that day was not "centrally coordinated." It was the assumption that it was a coordinated, planned attack that led Democrats in Congress to seek to impeach then-President Donald Trump, even as he was peacefully on his way out of the White House. Trump was later acquitted.

Conspiracy charges were filed against 40 of the 570 defendants who are held on allegations that they participated in the events of Jan. 6. Most of the charges against protestors from that day have been trespassing charges.

Oh, so there were only 40 conspirators trying to overthrow the election? (And that doesn't include Trump's "centrally located" incitement immediately before hand.)

Well, is that all? Just forty conspiring insurrectionists instigating a riot dragging in thousands to violence and destruction?

Gee whiz, johnforbes simply doesn't understand why that might bother a few of us.

Why don't we all do it again in 2025, especially if a Republican wins the next election? Good times...

It would be important to identify, and appropriate charge, anybody who did anything wrong there.

I completely agree with Elkin that that is not the peaceful, appropriate manner in which to urge Mike Pence to send disputed slates of electors back to their state legislatures per the Constitution.

But, as the investigators found, there was no central plan, no insurrection, none of the political baloney Democrats sought to push.

As per M-W

insurrection: an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government

So by definition was this an insurrection? Obviously yes

Now was it "centrally coordinated" or was is supposed to be or does an insurrection require a centrally coordinated effort? Obviously no nor does it really matter, because the Taliban were not centrally coordinated. They operated as decentralized autonomous groups in the country.

In the same way the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and other extremist groups worked autonomously to achieve the common goal of revolting against civil authority.

Maybe this brief explanation clears things up for your Johnnie.

No doubt there are RIght Wing groups who are extreme, but no doubt there were Left WIng groups like BLM which burned and looted across America in 2020,.

Democrats sought to make political hay from the Jan 6 riot, but declaring it an "insurrection" was always absurd.

The real insurrection took place in Afghanistan as morons like Austin and Blinken and Joe and Milley sad on their butts and did nothing.
