Wellington, New Zealand — New Zealand's government took drastic action Tuesday by putting the entire nation into a strict lockdown for at least three days after finding a single case of coronavirus infection in the community. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern invoked some of the stirring rhetoric she used early in the pandemic by urging the "team of 5 million" — New Zealand's population — to go hard and early in trying to eliminate the latest outbreak.

Explaining the Delta variant to people who think COVID-19 is a hoax and hydroxychloroquine is effective against COVID-19 is like explaining climate change to people who think wind turbines cause cancer and that solar panels cause birds to explode.

Wow, johnforbes finally starts a thread supporting a rational, limited COVID response that could actually stop the virus in New Zealand, as opposed to his usual suggestion to ignore public health experts and then leave the COVID response in the hands of children and the most ignorant in the society. Maybe johnny is finally catching on. It's hard to argue with a country that has successfully limited COVID deaths to under 100.

New Zealand has only some 3000 infections and 25 deaths. So perhaps they want to keep it that way.

The party of morons just booed Trump when he recommended to his followers that they should get vaccinated. Perhaps you should be taking Trump more seriously when he's not blaming imaginary immigrants for something.
