Top Virologists Admit Lying to American Public for Months on Likely Wuhan Lab Leak Theory Because They Didn’t Want to be Associated with President Trump

Alina Chan is a biologist at the Silver lab at the Harvard School of Medicine.

Chan is one of 18 scientists who finally admitted in the journal of Science last month that the Wuhan coronvirus likely originated in a Wuhan, China virology lab.

Chan says liberal scientists lied to the American public for months about their beliefs on the origination of the virus. They did this because they didn’t want to be associated with President Trump — who was right about the virus all along.

Unsurprisingly, johnforbes didn't present a shred of evidence to support his assertion becauser he's a partisan tool.

I rest my case.

Chan and 17 other scientists wrote a letter in the May issue of the journal SCIENCE on this point.

They admitted that, in essence, they didn't want to be viewed as a "tool" of Trump and so they kept quiet about the lab leak theory being the most likely theory for a full year.

Facebook and Twitter and YouTube censored and deplatformed people for talking about a lab leak, so that always contributed to this anti-science mess.

That's not what the article says, dimwit. You made it up.

I posted the article on your dedicated thread proving that you lied about it.

No, you are missing the crucial point, which is that an important hypothesis was shelved for a year.

MDs and PhDs were censored on FB and Twitter and YouTube by, in effect, Zuck and Dorsey and other dropouts.

No, you're missing the critical points, dummy.

First, no one gives a fuck about what happens on twitter or facebook. Let anyone who doesn't follow their rules be censored. Who cares? You don't and I don't.

Now, if a scientific journal were actually censoring facts, that would be something else. But they didn't. And if the government had stopped further research into the source of COVID, that would be bad, but no one stopped those guys from looking into it and publishing their findings.

Another point is that Chan DIDN'T "Admit Lying to American Public for Months on Likely Wuhan Lab Leak Theory Because They Didn’t Want to be Associated with President Trump." You made it up.

And Chan also DIDN'T admit "in the journal of Science last month that the Wuhan coronvirus likely originated in a Wuhan, China virology lab." You made that up too. I just posted the proof that you made it up, like you make up everything you post.

But most of all it is irrelevant whether "an important hypothesis was shelved for a year." It wouldn't have changed a thing in the development of vaccines, in the medical treatment of COVID, nor would it change any of the logistics in delivering vaccines to Americans. Not looking into the source further didn't kill anyone or even make anyone sick. It's irrelevant to you and me and Trump.

Why you are obsessed with this irrelevant topic that is only of practical interest to future public health officials and infectious disease experts is mind boggling. It doesn't make Trump look one iota better in his incompetence. And it doesn't even make Fauci look any worse. He told us exactly what researchers know that effects the public. He shouldn't have told us things infectious disease experts don't know, the way Trump did. And Trump certainly shouldn't have told us things he knew perfectly well were lies.

You shouldn't keep supporting his incompetence like this, dimwit.

Wasn't just FB and Twitter and YouTube, although those today constitute the public square.

Newspapers called the lab leak theory debunked and racist , and we know the Lancet letter war orchestrated by Daszak because he wanted to retain his firm's money flow and gain of function research.

Kids running YouTube, and dropouts like Zuck and Dorsey and Gates, actually limited the direction of scientific research during a pandemic.

Scientific research is not done in the public square, dimwit. And its 'direction' isn't set there either, thank gawd.

"Kids running YouTube, and dropouts like Zuck and Dorsey and Gates, actually limited the direction of scientific research during a pandemic."-johnfibs

You simply made that up, johnny. You have no evidence whatsoever that any of those people "actually limited the direction of scientific research during a pandemic." in any way whatsoever. Scientific research is not done on Twitter or Facebook and science grants aren't written there either. You keep telling us how you don't read Twitter and Facebook but then keep insisting how important they are in 'directing' science in this country. I guess it's just more of your partisan willful ignorance, eh?

Now Trump, that's another matter. There is lots of evidence in his own public health policies that he limited the direction of scientific research during a pandemic. When he didn't like what some government scientist told him, he just fired them or made their lives hell by encouraging (by not publicly discouraging) death threats from his followers against the scientist he was unhappy with. That is what should bother you, johnny. RIght wing, anti-science, reactionary threats of violence. You saw what that led to on January 6th.

Science is indeed affected by the public square.

Chan just admitted scientists didn't want to be seen as "tools" of Trump and thus avoided the lab leak hypothesis for a crucial year.

FB, YouTube, and Twitter ARE the public square, and censoring them is de facto repealing the First Amendment, and sooner or later some alert federal judge will realize they are common carriers which cannot censor.
