General Powell came out today in favor of Obama. His arguments ring true; how can you trust Romney or even know what he stands for.

I guess sununnu Supporting Romney is another per Se example of racism? Maybe Powell doesn't like the direction of the republican party? Maybe more than one reason for his endorsing Obama?

"When he took over, the country was in very very difficult straits. We were in one of the worst recessions we had seen in recent times, close to a depression. The fiscal system was collapsing. Wall Street was in chaos. We had 800,000 jobs lost in that first month of the Obama administration and unemployment peaked a few months later at 10%. So we were in real trouble. The auto industry was collapsing, the housing was start[ing] to collapse and we were in very difficult straits.

And I saw over the next several years, stabilisation come back in the financial community. Housing is now starting to pick up after four years, it's starting to pick up. Consumer confidence is rising."

Gen Powell is an actual right center person, not at all like the current crop of radical reactionaries in power over the RNC. His reasoning was precise, clear, and very rational and factual.

If Powlell didn't like the direction of the Repuplican party....he helped put it there. He seems to forget that it was Reagan and Bush that gave him a place in History. But that fact is not forgotten by Obama who appears to not have requested Powell's support and maybe not even his vote!
